It is really perfect singlehanding now and I NEVER had the need of an additional winch!
So I ordered 3, one more for the furler line
bought it: boat for sales, from Bill, great, loving it!!!

While I would like to think we put up a great sales pitch for the EZ Cleats, I suspect the greatest influence might have come (subliminally of course!) from Hamin'X's three girls.

ps. They're easy to install, too.

Good point. Also folks with arthritis etc.kurz wrote:... or you are too old...RussMT wrote:DaveC426913 wrote: If winds are that strong that I can't sheet the sail in by hand, I have too much sail up.
Sorry But my very good friends are actually 78 yeary old, still trailering around with a 1000miles...
But they really do use the winch for the genny!
Still, pointing into the wind takes the tension off so you can pull the sheet in. At least that's how I do it.
I bought mine from here

Same price as Bill's so all things being equal, I'd support Bill because he's a great Mac dealer and contributor to this site.

Yep, they're on cars. Daggerboard control is mounted on the cabin-top jib tracks, furling line on the starboard gunnel track, foreward most position.RussMT wrote:Aren't the ez cleats mounted on cars so you can attach them to the genoa track? Mine are.
So how do you mount them on the deck for furler line and dagger board line?
For that, I have a cam cleat for the furler line and a spin lock cleat for the dagger board.
BTW, I love these spin lock cleats. So easy to use single handed. Perfect for halyards and the dagger board line. Pull it straight and the clutch holds the line. Snap it up and it releases.
Re: Adding genny winches
Thanks to all for the great suggestions.
The E Z cleats look like my best bet.

Re: Adding genny winches
Follow-up. I received and installed Bill's EZ-cleats last week. Very happy.
A bit like a cell phone - a luxury, but once you have them you really don't want to do without them.
My tacking is much better - which simply means that it's no longer my worst sailing skill - now another bad sailing skill comes to the fore.

Re: Adding genny winches
The ones from Garhauer are not the same as my EZ Cleats. They are, however, the main part of what I use to make my EZ Cleats. I estimate I've sold about 300 sets.

HI Mastreb, where would you get the spinlock cleats on cars ? I cannot find them anywhere.mastreb wrote:

Gabid, I use Bill's EZ Cleats for the daggerboard, which are on a car.gabid wrote:HI Mastreb, where would you get the spinlock cleats on cars ? I cannot find them anywhere.mastreb wrote:

Re: Adding genny winches
Why not just mount the standard spin lock cleats on the deck. That's what BWY did on my boat. They are right behind the deck winches so if I need extra help from the winch it's there. Have em for dagger, main halyard. Have a small cam for furler line. Works a treat.gabid wrote:HI Mastreb, where would you get the spinlock cleats on cars ? I cannot find them anywhere.mastreb wrote:

I still can't see how Matt uses them so far forward on the tracks. It is easier than drilling holes I guess.
Re: Adding genny winches
Mounted behind the winches would give proper trim for genoa.RussMT wrote:

Re: Adding genny winches
I have never used winches for sail trim. For genoa sheets, I use Bill's ez cleats. An absolutely perfect solution.gabid wrote:Mounted behind the winches would give proper trim for genoa.RussMT wrote:
