Remot Motor disconnect

Postby kurz » Thu Aug 10, 2017 6:00 am

Hello at all

I really did not liked to go down, open the helm, put your a$$ high and your head deep in the motor well.

So I did my motor disconnect mod.

Quite simpel, can do it easily by sitting on the helm.

So as you can see - I like my stick remotos... you know already the ballast valve stick remot :D

What material did you use to build the rod?

Interesting

How does your "rod" pull the release mechanism so the connector and be removed?

I like what I see. I don't understand how it can work. The connector has a spring loaded release. It can't simply be lifted off without this release.

Or have you NOT attached the steering connector with a spring loaded attachment.

Is not the BWY linkage. What keeps it from coming off the connection?

First I took hard wood as material for the rod. I showed me that the idea works well. But as the wood works when rain an sun are coming I had to tighten the nut any day.
So I remade it with just a plastic plate I could find.

It is as simpel as you can imagine. Don't think too much.
The connecton to the motor is the original BWY motor disconnect.
You put my rod over the end, the 22mm hole fits perfect at the end of the motor disconnect. Then tighten the nut as hard as you can.

Then just grab the rod when sitting on the helm seat by turning your view back.
Move the rod towards the motor to open the motor disconnect. Just do the same as you would do when siting down.
The rod just makes your arm longer.

Even if you don't beleave... IT WORKS :D Very easy mod, I would never miss it.

I,d b concerned about the weight & vibration of the length that mod causing it to accidentally disconnect at WOT & cause a very dangerous situation , I would not recommend it for safety & insurance reason should something happen
Steering is a strict ed safety feature & should not b messed with unless up-grading to a better system or to implement an emerg. tiller system as some have done on here for safety reason & a back-up system to get u home

I know it can b a pita depending on weather to move it from one spot to the other , but that mod is just not my cuppa tea as they say , no offence
just sayin thats all
