I remember as a kid reading the adventures of Robin Lee Graham in National Geographic magazines as they arrived in the mail. I think that story went on for like 2 years in various editions of the magazine and I read every single one as it arrived in the mail. I remember in the final installment where he writes about his arrival he notes that four days after he docked the boat in Long Beach stuff was stolen from inside the boat on the third night and it made him consider the fact that he had sailed all over the world and never locked the boat even once, never ever had anything stolen, and he never even thought about it until that moment!

That said, a hasp and lock on that Lexan panel might cause more trouble than it saves.

No, not at all LoHo, the two are entirely interchangeable. You can lock it if you want to - it's real easy (I still don't know what "hasp" is but a lock - that I know! I can do that! :)

You don't have to add a thing to make the hatch lock just the way it is.
This is the kit I bought:

And it came also with THIS and is totally interchangeable:

The kit I got came with both the thumb lever tumbler AND the key lock tumbler - it's easy to swap one for the other - like two minutes.

In fact, I am packing the key lock tumbler in my boat stuff on board in case I ever end up in a place where I start to feel sketchy :? - I have not gone anywhere like that yet - but I also do not park my boat unattended in parking lots much either - so, who knows?! I'm packing the lock too!! :P

What did you use to line the edge of the glass opening? Looks like some black rubberized grommet.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I used a black rubberized grommet . . . . .

(It came with adhesive backing too.) Sticky :|

I figured it was okay because the package had the word "Marine" on it, so I picked that one.

M-D Building Products
5/16 in. x 17 ft. All Climate Auto and Marine D-Profile Weatherstrip

Did I do okay? Is that the right one? It was the only one with the word "Marine" on it.

Regarding the pedestal designs on the M, the earlier models have a stainless tube holding the fiberglass housing for the wheel, etc., whereas the newer models have the "toothbrush" design which is all firberglass.
