Can anyone tell me how the rope is attached to the centreboard on a 26X
I wish to replace mine as it is frayed but I have not been able to find any info on attachment of the rope.
I want to have it all ready before I drop the centreboard out of the boat.

Attaching rope to centreboard
Re: Attaching rope to centreboard
I believe it's just a knot that holds it. See the url below for a lot of photos showing the centerboard taken out of an X for repair...

ModsNote by FC:
Yahoo (Geocity) has very low bandwidth limits permitted for their photo hosting, so the link above is frequently unavailable (assuming it's due to "capacity problems"). That's very unfortunate, since this photo-essay provides an excellent review of centerboard's design and maintenance issues. I'm unsure who actually created the photo-essay, but I prefer hosting my photos with Photobucket, since they have much more liberal bandwidth allowances than Yahoo.

Re: Attaching rope to centreboard
I have copied the material to a webpage on one of my websites. I have emailed the author and informed him of this action and told him that I will remove it if that is his desire. I have also invited him to join our group.

On edit: Found the author and he is already a member opie. I have PM'd him for permmision, but since he posted a link to them in a previous post, I will assume that it is OK, until I hear from him.

Thanks for the Photobucket suggestion. I will try it. Thanks for moving the CB pics to better place. AOK!!!

ModsNote:
Opie ... nice work on that centerboard article. I couldn't view it for a day or so, and didn't recall exactly what you'd done there. However, Photobucket isn't an ideal host for combined text and graphics, such as your photo-essay. In fact, if you have it as a document (or Rich maybe), then I'd suggest forwarding to Heath as a potential 'featured article.' There are several others available for viewing under the Features tab, at page-top. ~fc
