price of 1998 MacGregor 26X
We have a 1998 26X for sale in Alberta but we have no idea what is a reasonable price to ask. It is in very good condition (clean and waxed, etc.) with new oversized tires on trailer, a 2002 50 hp Honda, bimini, cockpit cushions. Jib is not furling, but have spinnaker, storm jib and genoa. VHF radio. Does anyone know what would be a ballpark price for this?

Assuming its all in good shape, my guess is that boat would sell for about $8,000 to $10,000 USD where I live.

In the ball park of $30,000 to $35,000 down here in Australia, I know that's not much help
My 1995 X is insured for $36,000

Bought my 2000 Mac X in 2010 for $20K. It was loaded with features including stern rail seats, full enclosure and a custom mast crutch that allowed unstepping without removing bimini (and thus could be taken in rivers and canals).

Re: price of 1998 MacGregor 26X
I would think in the 11K US dollars range (at least near me). Not sure how that would equate to Canadian dollars.
For my own records, I keep an updated value, and break it down to 4 categories. I have a 2001X:
1) boat hull, elex, sails, bimini, other "gear"
2) boat outboard
3) trailer
4) other (kicker motor and bracket)
The outboard will swing the value a lot. For your values, my rough guess would be 1) 8400 for the boat, 2) $2000 for the O/B, and 3) $600 for the trailer (original?), for a total of $11,000
I know I sold my 2001 50 suzuki 4 years ago for $2000, and bought a new aluminum trailer for $4000 (getting $500 for the original trailer).
The other parts of the equation is the condition of everything, and the supply and demand for these boats in your area. That could swing the value a couple thousand either way.

Time of year is also a big thing when setting price, going into summer like you guys are now is peak season so demand is highest because people will get a few months use before winter, as it gets later and later in the season demand wanes so prices people are prepared to pay drop.
Personally I always try and buy in the Autumn / Winter and sell in the Spring / Summer. I'm trying to sell a little Yamaha 8Hp for a friend at the moment, in the Spring / Summer it would of sold in a day or two, but I have not had a single bit of interest in it yet.

Something to consider - the opportunity cost of trying to squeeze the absolute bottom dollar out of a sale vs. paying a few extra and getting out on the water with your family and friends.
Quite a few wannabees spend a fair amount of time looking.
