Bill's EZ Cleats

by Bill at BOATS 4 SAIL
I now have a new, stronger version of my EZ Cleats. The cam cleat no longer swivels, but is attached to the car with an oval plate underneath it.
If you have the older, original version, that swivels, return them to me and I'll modify them, at no charge.
I'll pay for shipping both ways.
Or, if you prefer, return them for a full refund.

I have the original E-Z cleats and am very happy with them, if they are improved you have made a great product better.

I wont be returning mine as I think they are excellent the way they are!

Bill, I am completely happy with mine, I can't imagine how you can improve them. Do you have a picture of your upgrade?
Thanks,
Terry

I would like to see them as well. I am assuming they allow you to sheet the jib or genny at the rear of the boat instead of at the Cabin top

I just recieved my EZ Cleats from Bill and I like the mod!
I thought the original EZ Cleat was a great design however...like others I used it to cleat off my Genoa, which I do not think it was intended for and they bent up a little. Bill offered his new design and I figured I would give it a try. (Pictures posted below)
The angle of the cleats seem proper and with the reinforced cam cleat I think it will be stronger. Bill has not advertised it to be used to cleat off the Genoa but knowing myself I will probably try it to see how she holds up (Bill, I release you from any liability).
Bill, I will try these out in a couple of weeks but based on what I see...... WELL DONE!

If the new design (I have the old ones) dont' swivel, aren't Matt's on the track backwards?

USAF....Yes They are! You should see all the other things I put on the boat backwards and upsidedown until the boat is in the water...By the end of the season I usually figure most of it out!! (I will post new Pics to save face if at all possible now...)

Can someone clarify how these things are used?

For a Genoa does the sheet come from the clew, around the outside of the shrouds, and then to this gizmo? Does this mean no wraps around the winch?

How much are they? On the KH website they have something that I think is very similar for $94 per pair.

Thanks,
Jim

You still use your genoa blocks, mounted on your cockpit coaming track

Bring the sheet back from the clew, feed through the genoa block and turn forward. Now it goes through the bullet on the block and the cam cleat. You use the winch on the cockpit to tension the sheet (no sneers from those who bear off the wind and hand tension please) and then snub it off on the cleat.
You can then take the sheet off the winch and clear the cockpit of lines

I have Bills (older version) and they work great. Ours here at KH are better since they are CE marked
