2 Xs on Richard Plumbs's port seat mod. I raised mine up to the level of the V birth and put my inverter next to the sink and extended the V berth by 18" and store the house battery under it. All seat tops are removable for improved access. Also removed the stbd seat back for more room in the V berth.

Here's a couple of pictures of the modification. I made a rectangle using 1X4's and used a piece of 3/8" plywood for the top. Trimmed the whole thing down so that it matched the level of the other seats. Aluminum angle iron pieces are used to fasten it to the original fiberglass settee top. Everything is painted white. This arrangement gives you a lot more options for stretching out in the cabin.

Hey Rich,

I really like your idea!

When you made the wood frame, you said you just made a rectangle out of 2x4 and plywood...
what did you do about the port hull curve?

Do you have any photos with no cusions on, so we can see the frame?

1 X 4's. I didn't try to match the curve of the hull, so there's a small gap, but it doesn't effect the overall outcome. I don't have any other pictures handy. The connector piece is a removable square of plywood, supported by aluminum angle iron on the left and right. I added a piece of angle iron across the bottom, front of this connector to finish it off and add some rigidity. The cushion used on that connector piece was swiped from the seat just aft of the galley. It's a pretty easy project....
