Hello and Ahoy all

Let me introduce myself. Name's Jeff. I'm retired to The Gulf of Thailand from USA. Bought a 2006 :macm: this past February with a 2006 50HP Yamaha 4 stroke. I just moved the boat from a remote storage where I had to tow and set up mast and rigging each time to storage by the launch ramp where I can leave everything set up and ready to go....much much better.

This is my third attempt to post a thread here. After I login, type message and submit, it keeps telling me I must login first, which I've already done. Sooooo, before I type any more let me see if this is going to work.

Cheers
Jeff

Thanks for the welcome. I will check the auto checkin box. Anything but cool in Thailand. It's either HOT and wet or HOT and dry, those are the two seasons, but there's usually a breeze to go sailin, so I'm not complaining. BTW you're up bright and early!

Welcome aboard. You get my vote for possibly the most exotic locale to sail a Macx and post from.

BTW, For the record, the ever vigilant Steven aka Catigale, never sleeps. Or if he does he posts in his sleep. He's a Ninja.

Hello and thanks for the welcome

I'll get some photos in the near future. That photo you posted is almost the exact view from my condo here. Only my condo is on the 14th floor, much lower then the posted photo, but that exact view at that exact angle....spooky. I'll post a photo of my Condo view in the near future too. In the posted photo you can just make out the breakwater for Ocean Marina at the far end of the curved shore line. If I had a fatter wallet that's where I'd keep my much bigger boat. Unfortunately my wallet is about the only thing that isn't fat. I'm not complaining though.

It is surprizing to me just how under used this beautiful boating play ground is. Plenty of fishing boats and plenty of nets, long lines, etc to get tangled in. Plenty of Tour boats taking tourists out to the more populated Islands for a day of fun in the sun, but very very few pleasure boats actually out and about, most sit unused for the most part at Ocean Marina. Well, I guess there are other distractions here in Thailand that keep a lot of other folks busy pursuing other pleasures.

I've lived for the better part of the last 14 years in this neck of the woods. Ten years on the Island of Bali in Indonesia, but up in the mountains in the jungle, not on the beach. The last four years here in Thailand right on Jomtian Beach, just South of Pattaya. My import/retail business brought me to this part of the world and I fell in love with it. Also, I can afford to be retired here as the cost of living's much cheaper here then Los Angeles, my last address state side. If I was still in LA I'd still need an income and the retail end of my business would be a hard way to go with the current state of finances in the States and the world.

I do consider myself very fortunate to be in the situation I'm in, it's been an interesting and wild (at times) ride getting here.

Again, thanks for the welcome.

Cheers
Jeff
