...or sail on the Great Lakes with your Mac....

I did what I could. I'm glad that there are good people out there in the world and not just Mac haters. I'm sure they also have their opinion on which car you should drive, which political party you belong to, which religion you should practice, etc.,

I liked the fact that the first positive rebuttal came from Western Australia (WA). :)
Sad but true Sumner. I take the point of view that, the more vociferous the objections, simply just confirm the correctness of the original decision.

I've owened my :macx: for 11 years and have always sailed on the Great Lakes. My home port is South Haven Mi., so I do most of my sailing on Lake Michigan. The Mac is the perfect boat for me on the lake. I have taker JAWS up to Beaver Island in northern lakeMi. Sailed the 30 miles from Charlevoix thru 2-4 footers. No trouble. I was caught in a storm many years ago that produced 6-8 foot waves. NO FUN, but the Mac handled it. Would not reccomend looking for that rough of seas, but JAWS ( my boat name) stayed dry.
I would reccomend a Mac to anyone looking for a motor sailor.

90 miles (two days) north. Owned our :macm: for five seasons. Great all-round boat and, the most important thing, it really hooked my wife on sailing. Of course the tenderness and lack of creature comforts had her tell me "We need a bigger boat!".

12.5 foot beam makes for a very stable platform in a 30+ kt blow. 834 nm's under the keel, 29 nights away from home port last season and we seem to find a :macm: or :macx: in just about every port or gunk hole we stop.

I have, and will continue to, recommend the Mac as a great way to get into sailing.

I have sailed a MAC on Lake Michigan (25 & 26X) since 1982. I have seen MAC Xs and Ms in every harbor from Chicago to Michigan City without even trying to find them.
Ironically, I travel to Florida every year around this time for a week of work, on every trip for the last 10 years, I have seen an X or M on the road between Chicago and there.
I was working at the airport in Columbus Indiana and there was a MAC M sitting there
I was vacationing in Traverse City, Michigan and there was a MAC sitting in the marina parking lot.
My dock at the Hammond, Indiana marina now has (4) MACs (2 Xs) (2Ms)
It's a small MAC world (OH NO ! The dreaded Disney song just started running through my head again) (it's making me mental I must say)
