Depth Sounders 4" Round Bulkhead Mount w/ glued to hull

I'm used to the traditional 4" circular depth sounder on the bulkhead but can't find any. Lots of the smaller in-dash units, just no bigger ones. I want to be able to roam around the cockpit and be able to see the depth. I'd like the GPS unit with sounding, but would need to stay put in the Kirk chair to see it.

Anyone have one of these apparently older sounders?

I've seen som strings with mods for gluing the transducer inside the hull. Can I do this with a transom mount transducer? Glue it inside the hull?

I have GPS/Sounder mounted at the companionway, visible throughout the cockpit. I split the screen about three-quarters for the map, remaining 1/4 shows digital Sounder & speed readings. Big enough that they're easy to see.

They are from NASA marine and are still for sale, however I can not find any on US sites, only on UK sites. This one, the Nasa Stingray, is for sale for 90 UK Pounds.

Thanks for the image, but not what I was looking for. The model is a 4" round instrument with a digital readout with depth; much like what you see in the catalogs nowadays, except they're all 2 1/8" in dia. meant for a dash mount.

Do the fish finders work ok? Are they easy to see from all the cockpit?

On edit: Oops, upon closer reading I've realized this is precisely not what you are looking for. Although, it's still a pretty good deal on a depth finder.

Where can a transducer be mounted on a 2000 26x.

The fish finder I have mounted on the transom gets covered with slime and barnacles in just days.

Would like a thru hull, but what about the ballast tank?

A "through-hull" transducer mounts on the outside of the hull, and requires a hole in the hull below the waterline for wiring. These are often mounted with a special fairing. Like transom-mount transducers, they can measure water temperature

An "in-hull" or "shoot-through" transducer mounts on the inside of the hull and shoots the sonar through the fiberglass. It requires no hole below the waterline, but cannot measure water temperature like the transom-mount transducer. The Airmar P79 is the most popular of these and is sold under the brand name of many fishfinder manufacturers. That's the one I'm using for our 2002 X.

Would like a thru hull, but what about the ballast tank?

Mine is mounted thru the ballast tank starboard site aft. The dealer first installed a small PVC cilinder thru which the Transducer fits. This cilinder is glued to the outer liner and to in inner liner and sits inside the ballast tank. By doing so it keeps the ballast water where it should stay and it also gives enough support to tighten the transducer. Remember you fix the transducer by screwing it tight on the inner liner side and you need some strenght there to prevent the inner liner to dent in. On the outer liner you should put some marine kit between the liner and the transducer.
