Macerator Pump out mod for trailering

Post by Catigale »

I have a JASCO macerator on my PP for pumpout in the ocean, but sometimes on the Cape we end up coming home with the PP near full since we dont go 3 miles off shore to dump.

This weekend I had a

I bought a brass 3/4 inch 90 degree elbow and a brass FIP to hose adapter in 3/4 inch too, and 6 feet of cheap garden hose.

I lifted the sewer grate in the street, screw the elbow, adapter, and hose together, then carefully tapped the brass 3/4 elbow into the Marelon pump out fitting on the side of the boat...and then emptied the tank right into the sewer (check your local regs on this of course)

I took the hose with me, and filled and emptied the PP three times to flush everything out. Sure beats carrying the PP up and down the ladder....

Picture to come ....

Illegal in San Diego and most if not all of CA. We only have storm drains that go straight to... the ocean (untreated). After our annual rain in february the beaches usually have to be closed from all the bacterial runoff.

I should clarify....we have both storm (rain) and sanitary (black water) sewers in our town - I only dump into the Sanitary sewer of course....

I've been wanting to do something like that myself. I live on my 200 acre farm and made a dump pipe into my septic tank to dump the potty. It would be a heck of a lot easier to just pull up beside it and let 'er rip!! Besides, if someone cuts you off on the way home, just follow them to where the stop to get a burger and stuff the hose into their window and....well, I'm not that cruel.

You leave it at home of course - remember, you only do this on land. If I did get stuck trailering it, I would rinse with copious amounts of water and put it in a trash bag...

Exactly my plan :!:

The variation is; I have a 4 inch clean-out, right next to my West driveway, on the side of the house. It runs out to the septic tank.
Also have a nearby water faucet. I plan to install a hose fitting on the side of the boat, that connects to a clear water rinse hose, inside the head (with a shutoff valve inside).
This will make it very easy to pump, rinse, repeat  And, I can use the clear water hose to re-fill the flush water.
Had a similar setup in my X boat, except it was a regular marine head with holding tank. Still, very handi to be able to rinse out the holding tank, regularly.

I will install a regular pump out fitting on deck also.

Many municipalities charge your for your sewer fees based on your water usage. Therefore, you are probably illegally dumping because they can't meter it.

Aaah... go for it rebel. Much better than washing up on Marthas Vinyard beach.

Well played. :)

So you pry bar the sani sewer and dump into it? Why not just take the PP out and dump it down the toilet like the rest of us?

Still, I love your solution. Anything to save the back. Even better that you have a method to dump into the ocean. We resort to dumping out PP into open pit outhouses along our route home or into my son's toilet where I don't have to think about it.

I can actually fit the hose into the pry hole without lifting the lid....I used to unmount the PP but remember with the Macerator there is a big disconnect of the Macerator hose which is messy.

By the way, when did they start labeling sewer grates AT&T and why aren't our phones working?

When we upgraded to the 5 gal Dometic PP, the big round "entrance" hole didn't seal. The slider valve pulled down and didn't make a tight seal. I emailed Dometic when I got home. The next day I called them and they said, "Oh, it's you. We've been discussing your issue." Which took me back that the company was discussing my PP problem I had emailed service about the night before.
They sent me a brand new tank and it's been working fine ever since. No questions, just sent me a new one direct from the company. I like companies with that kind of service.
