Re: Ugly windows
What is an XO, someone who hasn't been "promoted" to Admiral?Jeremy K wrote:You guys are so helpful, I really appreciate it! I daresay the ugly windows are bothering my XO even more than the sloppy paint job (tho' that's probably a close second), so I intend to deal with them soon. Now I have multiple options to go with.
And I call the color...pink...or rose...I think...o>0

Re: Ugly windows
I've always wondered about that color. Since we don't look out the windows much, I'm not inclined to replace them, but the weird color is one way I quickly identified another Macgregor in the marina!chipveres wrote:Jeremy:

Re: Ugly windows
What about enlarging the windows as long as you're ordering new glass? Might actually make the windows useful as windows instead of gun slots.

Gun slots...that's great! Would have to be a pretty small gun too...LOL!willsnow wrote:What about enlarging the windows as long as you're ordering new glass? Might actually make the windows useful as windows instead of gun slots.

Re: Ugly windows
Thanks to everyone here for many advices. Just thought I 'd update on the 'ugly windows': the Quartermaster and I got smoked ones from BWY, put them on with some silicone sealant after removing the uglies and stripping all the old goo off. Also the Quartermaster scraped off the old paint the p.o. had slathered on the topsides, and repainted. There's still a lot of cosmetic problems with the deck; perhaps we'll get to them someday. So my poor ol' M25 has had a facelift and we're looking forward to a lot of happy sailing.

Re: Ugly windows
I replaced my windows with nice dark windows from cruisingconcepts. They were pricey but darn, NO LEAKS and they look very good. It is amazing how replacing the windows really improved the look of the boat. Mike Powell <[email protected]> shipped me a kit with everything I needed including sealant. He also sent me a link to a video showing me how to install them. He also provided telephone support when I had a question during installation.
