Would like to extend the life line stanchions, any ideas
If possible would like to extend the life line stanchions without totally replacing them. Has anyone done this? Without a mast and with a dodger up there is not a lot to hold on to in going to the front to drop the anchor. Not sure of the diameter of the stanchions on a 2003X but was wondering if the next size up would slide over the two stanchions on the "roof", then I could move the connection to the bow to the top of the bow rail from the bottom.

How about just welding on two more eyes on each side and adding new lifelines above the old?
That leaves the sailing functionality intact at incremental cost

I had success with welding on a ss uclamp after cutting of the threaded part. raised the bow line 6 inches without interfering with my roller furler. If I had it to do again I would buy a pair of ss hinged Jaw slides. This way you can reposition them higher or lower. Currently on sale on Ebay for $.14.50 each.

I think he is talking about making the stanchions 3 or more feet high not two feet high (or whatever the factory height is). I have the hinged jaws also on the pulpit but would also like to raise the height of the side stanchions (being 6'4"
)
