Sailing with spinn on Pegasus with G

Post by dreamer »

http://s298.photobucket.com/user/dreame ... 1.mp4.html

Geoff was kind enough to take me sailing for a couple of days...one with Leon and Highlander...Unfortunately I couldn't make it with my boat (My 2008 etec needs an injector replaced).

This was the day he pulled her out to find rudder issues.

We were sailing pretty close to the wind for a spin.

Did I correctly read the speed of 11.5 knots while sailing on a lake? :o

That was wind speed Phil. The speed was on the chartplotter 5.5knots....of couse if Léon was there he would've tweaked the boat to 6knts :D

5.0 kts, more or less, depending on whether I steered for speed, or to get where I was going. :D

I don't remember how much wind there was back then (2013 MMOR) but we were having a pretty good time with the spinnakers. These boats do ok with just that cheap asym that MacGregor offered.

Agreed

There was 5 kts of true wind

We turned that into 11.5 apparent

Gotta love science

Hey aviro,
just picked up boat this morning. They gave me the old faulty injector. They said they don't change too many. My outboard has 330hrs. I noticed on the engine report history that over 75% of the time the outboard is running below 3000rpm and the majority of that under 2000rpm. I'm going to try to do more high speed motoring to keep injectors clean. I also didn't do winterization last fall for the first time so that may have been a contributing factor. First major issue in 9yrs but the timing really sucks.

Not meaning to hijack the thread, but out of curiosity, are you guys with early injector failure running 'pure gas', or ethanol blend auto fuel?

Hi
I use the gas i find in the marina or super
BRP do not look concern about the type of fuel
my problem was looking as an electrical failure in the injector
loock curious 2 2008 engine same problem and on mine i suspect the second injector
i am going to put the engine on the computer coming back from my holiday ( if it do not fail before that)
the engine run rough and misfire.
i loose confidense about this engine and more knoing that BRP do not stand beind ther engine
realy bad experience for me
