26 m with a 90 hp?
Re: 26 m with a 90 hp?
Hi,
I have a problem to legalize a enigne with more than 38 kW (50 hp) which is specified in the examination report (declaration of conformity) coming with my 26m.
I like to use the boat on Lake Constance (Bodensee).
Does anyone who uses a bigger engine have a matching declaration of conformity?
Thanks for your reply,
Rainer

Rainer..I don't think a certificate of compliance was ever issued for a motor larger than 60 HP

Re: 26 m with a 90 hp?
Hallo Rainer

As far s I know 50Hp for the X (or 60 for the M) was only a recommendation, my early X has no tag on it giving maximum rating for the motor

I think he talks about Bodensee in Germany/Switzerland...
So there you have the CE - and there you can see the max 60HP for ther

Thanks for your replies.
My CE from IMCI in Brussels is with only 38 kW rated power.
On bwyachts I found a specification and engine recommendations for 70 hp:
http://www.bwyachts.com/26mspecs.html
http://www.bwyachts.com/engines.html
So I send a email to the IMCI what about 70 hp (52 kW). I am waiting for their reply.

The catch with installation of a 70hp is that the installation is exclusive to BWY having designed the installation in conjunction with the manufacturer.

There are huge differences between regulations in countries. In the USA, the Macs are of a size where there is no regulation of engine size, for instance.

Dont get me started with National laws, here in Australia we have state boating laws, believe me that makes it a hodge podge of rules that often conflict with each other in relation to licencing and if the boat needs registering

Re: 26 m with a 90 hp?
If u watch the sales video Roger say,s he recommends the 50hp power as a max because u can always pull start a 50hp if ur battery goes dead !!!
I do not believe there is any mention in the vid or in the boat manual that says u must not exceed 50hp
yep I just read the manual I do not see any mention of 50hp max
Just sayin that,s all

sorry Highlander, we are here in Europa, so we have CE-Regulations. So in any CE you will find max HP. And in the - CE Roger says 60HP.

Re: 26 m with a 90 hp?
U know a lot of the newer electronic engines the HP is controlled by computer programming my 75hp Merc 4 stroke is the same motor as the 90hp Merc & the 115HP Merc all spec,s block & gear case r the same !!kurz wrote:sorry Highlander, we are here in Europa, so we have CE-Regulations. Some people have been know to have turned the engines up !! & on some engine,s it,s only an air intake dam restricting air flow reducing HP
my 75HP Merc has more torq than the 90-115HP engines so it is better suited for the heavy & more rounded hull of the & , now on a flatter hull like the u would likely see some improvement
So it is not always just about increasing HP depending on hull shape & boat design & weight , so sometimes more "Torq" is desirable & will give u better results
Just sayin that,s All

Re: 26 m with a 90 hp?
Hi all,
I stopped my effort to legalize a motor with more than 50 hp.
I got a offer of 2.500 EUR for a post construction assessment (PCA). But for the test drive the motor needs to be at the boat... It was not sure that my would really pass this test.
So I did the easy way:
Yamaha sells their F 70 AETL as a F 40 GETL in Italy (40 hp limit, if you have no driving licence). There is just a plate to remove in the intake. No need to change or reprogramming the ECU. Check the bills of material if you don´t believe me.
Bodenseezulassung was no problem.
I am happy,
Rainer
