Re: Furling
Ray--
No physical changes. I already had a very light furling line.
But I changed a couple techniques: 1) I now pay more attention to the furling line as we unroll the said, and I can see we're getting a better wrap on the spool. 2) we point down wind when furling. The first turn is still a little stiff, but much better. And after that it rolls up neatly.
Thanks to this list for both pointers.

Interim,
“after that it rolls up neatly. ”
When furling, don’t you mean “rolls out”? Unfurling fills the spool, yes?

WTFurl!!... I had to look it up (again!!)
As per Wikipedia: "Furling refers to stowing or dousing a boat's sail by flaking (folding), packing (like stuffing a spinnaker into a bag!"

Re: Furling
Furling = wraps around the forestay.
Unfurling = unwraps.
Unfurling = unwraps.

Yes, and when I furl my Genoa, I then put a "sock/bag" on it. 2nd to last thing I do. Then I take a look around to see what I've forgotten - then it's miller time.

Re: Furling
If you keep some tension on the furling line while unfurling, it will roll up better
Do not let it free-wheel.

Re: Furling
in my configuration I shall put some tension on the furling line also if completely unfurled. Becouse otherwise the furling line comes under the bow clam port side.

Re: Furling
When I said “rolls out”, I was referring to the line, not the sail. When the sail furls, the line rolls out.

Re: Furling
The sail rolls up neatly. That is, the line pulls better now, and as it comes out the sail rolls up. Unfurling (setting) was never an issue.NiceAft wrote:Interim,
