Is it possible that the factory has chosen that as standardized freight fee for all USA destinations?
I bought mine in '99, but had the impression it was like "factory invoice" fluff ... my dealer drove the 1,000 miles RT so he could use that "fee" as part of his margin??? I think GM adds a standardized "marketing fee" of $600 to every vehicle.
Thanks for the great ideas of where to use our boats. I can't wait to try out all the places you mentioned. Wouldn't the Great Salt Lake be a little hard on the engine?
Deja welcome to the Mac family. I feel sooooooo lucky to have Mike Inman (Capt Mike) of Inman Yachts in Marina Del Rey as my dealer. I bought my M last Christmas and it came FULLY rigged and assembled and the dealer got me a slip (pretty impossible for an outsider to get here), and took me on a shakedown cruise and showed me everything and subsequently answered AT LEAST a thousand questions ( I am still asking them and he still answers). I had a problem with my Evinrude 60 HP E-Tec and Mike REPLACED it with a new one after 2 months. When he and son Jeff were installing lazy jacks (that Mike invented) two weeks ago I told him (I didn't complain - - - just informed him) about a tear I had in the Genoa which he looked at and decided that it was along the outside seam and shouldn't have happened and the NEXT DAY his son Jeff delivered and installed a BRAND NEW GENOA after eight months - - - and I use this boat four days a week in Santa Monica Bay. Jeff has helped me unrig the boat for trailering several times and also answered countless questions. Mike also acts as "cruise director" for our marina and often gets Mac owners from all around southern California to go on Mac gettogethers - - like twice this year to Catalina Island. I also tourned the factory earlier this year - - - but WITH MIKE - - - and learned a GREAT DEAL about the structure of my M, which knowledge has come in very handy at times. Inman Yachts in Marina Del Rey comes highly recommended by me. I'm around the yard alot (because I dock near the yard) and have had nothing but good experience with Inman. Sounds like all dealers should be a little more like Mike and Jeff. Mike posts on this site alot - - - so pay attention to his posts - - - he really knows what he is doing!

Sorry to hear of this unpleasant experience with "Bill". I'm glad that this Bill is not your typical Bill.
I traveled to Wisc and met Bill at Boats4Sail when the wife and I were looking for a Mac. There is one helpful and friendly dealer who is not looking to make a killing on each sale. Just a fair mark up.
We didn't purchase an M from him only because we preferred the layout of the X. We have, however, purchased a new 150% headsail and pedistal guard from him. Decent price and fast delivery.
I think that 'factory Bill' should have a few weeks at charm school (without PAY) to learn that the customer is the ONLY reason that he gets paid. Bottom line...
Thanks Bill At Boats4Sail for keeping the name good name Bill
