Newbie X'er in L I Sound [Bayside, NY], Looking for Lessons

Post by Gazmn »

Hi Again All,

While I've presented my proposition before, I said I would check again when time was right. I have a 97 :macx: that I repowered with a 90hp E-tec. I'm moored at Bayside Marina by the Throgs Neck Bridge.

My boat is now setup and I'm looking for :macx: sailing lessons. While I mean no insult, I'm more than happy to pay for your time to teach my wife and self how to sail.

The reasons I bought a Mac with no sailing experience are:

1. This is my mid-life crisis - and I can't grow a pony tail [ Am bald] & I'd kill myself on a motorcycle :)

2. I was looking at walkaround cuddy cabins, perhaps a Grady White, but realized I valued the cabin layout with pvt head for future cruising.

3. And the price of a tank of gas. "The wind is free" -- & this board is Great! Very informative.

So, I'm taking care of some family business right now and am out of town. [ My Dad Passed :( ] But He's seen my boat - and it's named after his wife :)

Now I'd like to learn how to sheet this thing - I'm tired of running around the bay as a powerboat with a lightning rod attached to it. Is anyone available after mid September?

Anyone?... Beuller?...Beuller?...

-Gaz

Greg...Congrats on your 97-X, and 90 HP Etec...Your choice in a mid-life crisis is a good one...and much better/safer than a motorcycle.

Happy

Thanks guys :)

I'm still in Virginia taking care of dad's affairs & mom, sans boat.

I'm going to email Ed Goodhue and see what he's doin up in MA in late Sept early Oct - provided the weather holds up. It's his old :macx: that I bought.

Ernesto has finally blown through and this Labor day looks beautiful.

Hey Mike if I can work something out by Ed - & I get cocky

I'll take you up on your offfer.
