Can any one recommend anti foul for 26X with trailer without rollers?

The harder the better and you will want something that will handle being out of the water.

You may want to ask around and see if the bottom antifouling wax works in your area for the amount of time spent in the water. You will have to apply every year.

Antifouling wax sounds cool if it works. The VS721 from Aurora is a nice wax but not as antifouling as it claims. (I use it) I have also heard that VC17 is a good product but expensive. I realize that the faster the boat goes the harder the antifouling has to be or else the speed will slush it off , so what works best on our hybrids given also that they may spend half the year on the hard. I still use wax but will soon be switching over to an antifouling paint in the next year or two. Would not mind hearing real world results from folks who have their boats on the hard for part of the year and how the paint held up and how often it must be re-applied. I find it a tough decision to make weather or not to bottom paint. I believe this has been covered before but lets have another go at it.

5 years ago I latched onto INTERLUX ablative (no idea of the specifics beyond that).

Every year I patch up any areas showing gelcoat where the antifoul has been depleted. Some areas probably have about three partial layers by now.

My point is, with comfortable 15-18 mph winds I still regularly pull 7.5 mph on a good reach.

Maybe next year I may think about removing everything back to the original gelcoat. But for now, I am having lots of fun and no barnacles.

BTW I sail in Prince Edward Island, Canada all summer, then the rest of the time in The Gulf of Mexico, either Alabama or Brownsville, Texas. The stuff just seems to keep on working.

So what's the best way to strip old antifouling?

I'm sure this too has been much discussed in the past, so has anyone a suitable link?

I have been thinking of removing all my bottom paint since I trailer my boat. I removed some of it and found my gelcoat in bad shape. It looks like it was sanded for good adhesion for the paint. There is also little blisters in the gel coat. I dont know what to do about it. Should I just paint over it with more bottom paint?

Same suggestion just minutes ago in the thread by JnK ....

Use top-center search link for the word blister. Half of those will be titles that are clearly on your topic of interest, bottom paint or its removal. Lots of reading, lots of opinions, not so many clear cut answers.
