Harrison.

There are at least two launching ramps at Chatfield. One is right at the marina itself which is at the southeast corner of the resevoir. I would think they have some sort of overnight dockage. I know there is one finger that folks can tie up to and get fuel, eat at the restaraunt, etc. You may want to give them a call though.

Art,

Thanks for the reply. Just got off the phone with the Marina. (303-791-5555) They have "Courtesy" Slips for the night. $25 per night, with your night running out at 10:00AM the following day. The Marina girl said that they are on a "first come first serve basis. I said just how bad it'd suck for me to drive from the Longmont area, only to find out that they are all taken. She agreed and made reservations for this Friday and Sat nights for us! :)

The marina is at the south launch. Usually I prefer the north launch because I don't need the permanant mast raising system and it seems a little quicker as there are 2 ramps. The south launch has one ramp and there's usually a "ramp nazi" directing traffic. I say ramp nazi in jest; usually they're pretty friendly.

Harrison, while the slips are nice, I have anchored many times on Chatfield and actually prefer it. It gets pretty crowded on weekends in the summer, so I tend to go to less crowded lakes in the mountains.

Is this the Don Chelsey that I met a few weeks ago at Union Res. with the Oday?
If so, hello again! Welcome to the board!

Ramp Nazis....hahahahaha.

Yeah, they can be pretty fun to watch when things get a little busy.

I hve witnessed some real funny incidents and I am glad they have been there.

Have also thought they were pretty pleasant folks willing to lend a hand if needed.

I like all the activity at the marina. The facility is kept in immaculate condition. The folks who slip there are real friendly. Its a real fun place to be around if you like the yacht club/marina feel.

As long as there is wind, the powerboats don't bother me. Nothing like a fresh breeze and the boat crashing through a little wake now and then. Reminds me of being back on the coast. Of course if there is no breeze then it can be plain miserable.

One thing about Chatfeild is that if there is no wind during the day just wait till late afternoon. It usually comes in with a vengeance....like clockwork.

Question to those who are experienced with Chatfield, how bad are the flying insects? Bug repellant a must?

Thanks,

Okay, here’s an update. We had a great weekend. Winds did pick up late in the afternoons, and the traffic on the lake was not too busy. The marina was a joy to launch and retrieve from. The restrooms are clean and they have SHOWERS! 50 cents gets you 3 min. Reload as much as you'd like. The restaurant is nice and affordable, and the margaritas are definitly worth the $5.50. The curtousy dock and slips were quiet and easy to maneuver. $25 per night, ending at 10:00 am the following day. Entrance into the park was just $6.00 for my truck per day. No charge for the boat. In a nutshell I’d definitely go back. Here are some shots of the weekend. (BTW, no bugs)

So when are we going to do this?
