Actually, my experience on Saturday was quite the opposite, even with telling Roger I’m a devoted

sailor having fought to re-own one after 3+ years.
Otho remembered me right off the bat even though I last saw him (at Annapolis) in ’03.
Though I do admit both were tickled pink when I told my story of selling my first ’02

(purchased from Otho in late ’01) to move up to the Bristol, and back to an ’02

earlier this year. Seems like it makes a great selling point for the Mac’s, because they plan on using it! I guess they both saw my enthusiasm for the brand, which btw, helped grease the “trailer bunks” for open discussion.
I would say only 40% of my discussion with Roger revolved around sailing/Mac’s. Most involved either his Air Force or my Nuke Submarine hitch. I do admit it get’s rather surreal when your discussing the accuracy of a strategic sub launched W68 nuke warheads with the dude that designed your sailboat. One can say what they want about the man, but he is an engineer. His….how do I put this……unique personality, which most true designer’s exhibit, showed through as well!
FWIW, Otho ALWAYS makes me feel right at home when I see him; I often kick off the shoes hang at the

and let my enthusiasm help sell the boats. Even with the fact Otho knows I have no plans to ditch my

. My son will take it when I retire and start the live aboard life. Which will most likely be the NAVY 44 MK I (they can be had from the Academy as I found out at the show). I would hang with him anytime, too bad the show is just a tad too far (280 miles) to make it a yearly justification.
Also, Roger did relay an open invitation (to all) to tour the factory. I hope to take him up on it someday soon.
