I need to replace the centerboard line on a 2002 26X. What type of line or cable would work the best and most durable for a salt water application? Thanks.

Seventeen feet of 5/16" polyester double-braid. Sta-Set or Samson, not Home Depot string.

There is an indentation in the CB for either the line side or the knot side. Which should go on the indentation side?

I am thinking my board above is wrongly tied and may be the reason my line frays each year? What say you? Thanks.

Opie, I didn't tie a knot on one side as it was to thick just like the original wire attachment that caused groves in the centerboard trunk. I had a 1/2 inch eye splice put in from a local rigger and attached the line on the tru bolt with washer, this didn't prutrude past the fiberglass indent on the centerboard.
There is no rubbing when raiseing board or lowering it. I beleive from past memory that the centerboard line was attached to Port side of the board.
Maybe yours is diffrent but my line did not go thru the centerboard but had a thru bolt that you attached the line to.
