Pump Out rig.

My 26M has a marine toilet with deck pumpout installed by the PO. I really like it except there are times when it would be concenient to do the pumpout on the hard. I have access to an rv dump facility but no way to pump out the tank. I was thinking about making an intermediate catch tank out of a large garbage can. and using a wet/dry shop vac to provide the vacuum. The garbage can could be sealed up and proper fittings installed with marine Goop or something similar. The can could then be dumped at my RV station. Has any one else attempted this? I did talk to a powerboats owner who used his shop vac with out an intermediate tank, He said it worked but he ended up with a messy(!!) shop vac.

Maybe there is a better idea out there.

Yea a shop Vac is an alternative .... Never Ever ask to use one of mine EVER!
How about some sort of Funnel with a pool hose ? Use auto window trim for a seal and while you hold it firm against the hull someone hits the button inside? Then rinse the bowl a couple times and dump again? I am Never loaning you anything ever!!! :D :D

I made a setup similar to my home made dust collector. 5 gal bucket with two holes in the lid. a 90 deg PVC elbow in one hole and straight in the other. I connected the vac to the straight side and the deck pump-out to the 90deg fitting. It is sealed pretty good but my little shop vac is not powerful enough to pull the "stuff" out of the tank. I kind of lost interest in it but it would work with enough suction i think. Do RV pump stations have vacuum or is it gravity?

Hal ow, we are onto same idea. Do you think your shop vac was typical or smaller than what is available?

I have a 10(?) gallon blue tank with wheels to clean out the holding tank on my camper. Might be a better choice than a garbage can. Can't help with the pump.

How about a nice pink seat on top of the shop vac, then you just carry it to the RV pumpout and flush it out?

Depending on the head, you may be able to disconnect it and dump it out. Although a PITA, it sounds much easier than what you are embarking on.
