Just purchased a 2012 26M. Black hull w/ 70 hp yamaha. Will be keeping it in a garage, so the black didn't really give me any concern. Think it's sharp.

Not my first "powered" boat, or sail boat. I had a West Wright Potter when I was in college, loved that little guy - but that was 25 years ago. I also own a Bayliner 2150 bow-rider which is a fantastic economy, family boat.

The dealer will take a couple weeks to install all the options I ordered, so I won't get it until early May. Pretty much ordered all options. It was still $20 grand less than the Edge, and was less than 1/2 the price of the Seaward. I really loved the Seaward 26RK, but I really couldn't afford/justify it. The Edge is just plain ugly to me. Both seemed much smaller inside than the Mac.

I'm a bit apprehensive, since I haven't sailed in so long, but excited at the same time. My intended use for the boat is weekend trips on the local lakes, and maybe someday cruise the ICW and the gulf coast of Florida. Mostly taking it out by myself, but sometimes with my nephews and other family.

In my search on the site, don't see much info on the Yamaha F70. Thought this was a good engine choice, but would love some feedback on that. Also, I see a lot of conflicting advice on whether to motor with or without ballast. I tend to be cautious, so probably keep it in.

Welcome and Congrat's......IMHO the lack of info on this board about the Yammy 70 is just because its a newer motor ? Now you can be our Yammy 70 HP guy
Beene has a 70 HP Merc not sure if his is a 2 strk or a 4 strk? Big HP Big Prop Guys are getting some Big Speed out of these boats.. I have the Merc 50 EFI BF 4 Strk.. she's fine ...
What size prop are you spinning on that Yammy?

Don't know what prop the dealer is putting on it - assuming it has a "standard" prop from Yamaha.

I'm located near Greenville, SC. We have several big lakes - Hartwell to the south, and Jocassee to the north.

Then that might be your first question UNLESS he has installed 70's on these boats a lot in the past.. Many of us are running 14 x 10 some 14 x 11 for 3 blade props.. There is a LOT of wet surface on these boats.. Lots of wind resistance as well.. Low pitch is the way to go for sure...

I'm stuck with no hull And I just won another local pretty good sized poker tournament which added a bunch more boat bucks to the boat pot - - - - - - but I cannot find the right boat on Lake Mead When (more like if) I do, there's going to be a heck of a party

It appears to me that the motoryacht I want is not located on Lake Mead, and I will have to go to the LA area to find what I want (boats are suppossedly cheaper there anyway) - - - and then pay to truck the boat to Mead and arrange to unload it and have a slip waiting. Sounds like a lot of work and planning to me and it seems doubtful that I will find what I want and arrange everything in one trip back to LA.

So I better hurry before I kick the bucket and leave my wife no boat to get rid of ( which shouldn't be that hard because there won't be much else for buyers in that range to look at - - - plus her purchase price will be zippo!)

Rick if you find a boat on the coast in SoCal, I'll pick it up for you and deliver it to Lake Mead. My tow beast will handle it no problem.

And I don't know what I'm waiting for because I've probably known for months that I need to buy in LA and ship it here - - - I'm just procrastinating getting started on what will be a several day trip plus all the homework and preparation I'll have to do ahead of time (not that it's not fun looking at boats once you begin to do it) - - - and I don't want to play poker in LA - - - I can no longer tolerate their rake system after having played for 3 1/2 years in Las Vegas.

Mastreb - - - I appreciate the thought - - - but I'm looking for a 42'+ motoryacht type boat that will not come with any trailer. I'll have to have it professionally loaded onto a cradle on a flatbed and then trucked here, I'm sure Won't be cheap - - - might be an oversized vehicle which needs an escort, etc. PITA!!!

PS But when it's accomplished, there WILL be a BIG party and everyone who can make it is invited - - - we'll maybe spend a few days out on the Lake until we run out of everything!!
