Ever heard of a Mac D ?

We are anchored in Boca Raton Lake . A sailboat with mast in the horizontal position comes by . I thought it was a 'S'
But the captain hollered back , it was a 'D'
Looks just like a 'S'
And I don't care what the video says the mast doesn't just pop up there . We watch two men struggle putting the mast up . Made us feel better about the "keystone cops " way we have of putting ours up .

"D" has a daggerboard. "S" has a swing keel. Putting the mast up can be affected by a variety of things - too much shroud tension, experience of the people involved, etc.

Raising the mast.
Practice practice.
Also, if you don't have the mast raising pole, get one. So much easier.

What do you do if you want to sail for more than four hours?

Well, I don't know but all I know is that if it lasts for more than 4 hours, the last person I'm gonna contact is my physician.
My wife might end up wanting to scream for a doctor, however.
