New table and clothes pockets on V berth
Table
We wanted a little more storage and a different table so this is how we replaced the original table. Used 2 pieces of 1/2 sanded plywood, glued and screwed together with the grain at 90 degrees to each other. We then used small ell brackets to fasten the table leg to the floor so it could not move. CAUTION use very short screws on ell bracket to floor. We also made the table slightly larger then the original, 40" X 40". The drawer/storage box on top of the table is 9" wide X 9" tall X 39" long. This box is made of #2 pine, and the drawers just rest on the base without drawer glides so the friction on the bottom keeps them closed. The open top is about 3" deep X 6" wide. Later on we installed a small box in the open top that has 3, 12 volt sockets in it. Looking past the table you can see the fabric pockets mounted on a piece of masonite on each side of the V berth. The masonite is just held in place by the boat liner. There are 4 individual pockets on the bottom row and 3 on the top row. This is where we placed our clothes while traveling. By mounting the fabric pockets on the masonite we did not put holes in the liner and the clothes never got damp. We used Dri-Dek under the mattress to allow air under the bed. Our foam after over 8 months never got damp.
