Re: 26D Mast Raising system

I have a 26D and the factory MRS, and I always attached the lower block of the MRS to the Jib attachment point on the head stay attachment fitting. It works fine without making the pole any longer. I use the jib sheet to pull the MRS pole as high up at an angle as possible, so its not at a 90 degree...

Re: Need help adjusting verniers on my Mac 25.

There is probably a better way, but when I need to adjust tighter, I lower the mast just enough to reduce tension, then adjust, and raise the mast back into position and makes sure the tension is where I wanted it to be. The problem with this method is that it sometimes takes multiple attempts befor...

Re: Stern railing

The single rail model is available from Blue Water yachts. I ordered one for my 26D. It was quite pricey. I probably should have shopped around for a local marine welder.
I have not yet installed it, but when I do I will probably do a cut over the ladder area, and an additional post.

Re: Suspicious Cracks?

The cracks n the picture are in the inner hull liner, which is a separate part from the hull itself. That hull liner is thin, and not well supported in some areas. My 26D has far worse cracks in the hull liner back there. when I bought the boat there was a severe hole punched through it in the aft c...

Re: certificate of compliance?

I have a 26D and I keep the fuel tank under the tiller handle on the floor of the cockpit ( as mentioned above). The space it takes is not really used for peoples feet anyhow. I sit forward toward the end of the tiller. I am going to build a small "table top", as I have seen on many boat mod pages, ...

Re: Mainsail won't fully raise - why?

My 26D has what sounds like the same problem when I bought it. It was the bolt rope. When I considered the sail and its condition, I just went ahead and bought a new main. Great decision for me.

Re: Sagging Boom

I have a 26D, and it came with the original main. I had the exact same issue. I tried some workarounds, but none worked.
call it shrunken bolt rope or stretched sail, end result was I bought a new main and the issue was resolved. Glad I did.

Re: Water Leaking into Head. Source?

My 26D has the exact same leak, and it is coming in from around the windows (just like Sumners). I have new windows to replace the pink ones, just need to get to it some day. After the windows, I'll move on to rebedding the chainplates. I recently pulled of the mast base plates (2 pieces on the D mo...

Re: Should I fix this?

I also have an 88 D, and it has some similar cracking. I’ve checked on the "outside" of the trunk inside the boat and it does not go all the way through as far as I could tell, and it does not leak into the boat, so for now I just keep an eye on it. I have not puller the dagger board out to see how ...

Re: Pictures of breaker panel wiring

Interesting timing on this topic, as I am re-wiring my 26D right now. Hard to tell what the original config was. Primarily looks like lamp cord wiring running to the bow light, mast light, stern light and a single cabin light over the sink. All my wires have been cut by previous owners at each end. ...

Yep, or at least I was until the ex gave up the slip without asking first and I was forced to pull it out before they towed my :macx: away. I'll be putting my name back on the waiting list for a new slip soon but probably not until after summer  Is yours in East Toho ? ~Phillip I'm surprised t...

Re: Florida and Bahamas in July?

I have made trips over to the Bahamas many times, but always on a power boat. A few things not already mentioned: wind can be a challenge in summer in the morning. I have photos mid way across the stream of the glass calm water. you would be on motor power more often then not. The afternoon summer s...

Re: How Many Of You Keep A Ships Log?

I have always kept a log. Lots of reasons: Where I went, who was on the boat, conditions, and if on an offshore trip, position. If electronics fail, your last logged position is a good starting point for dead reckoning back to home. I also note any problems or repairs needed. I use a small waterproo...

Beware Power lines

First, this is not my boat; second, if the owner is on this board, I apologize and will show nothing to indicate who you are. A friend of mine lives at a marina in Tampa Bay, and this is the story he told me this morning: Recently a nice new Mac comes to the marina for on the trailer storage. The ma...
