Here's the C36 video that inspired me. A young guy celebrating the New Year out of Seattle during a small craft advisory. Good sound track. The guy's having fun, and sailing alone.

Thanks for the inspiring videos Beene!
The admiral says she's NOT doing that.
No fear of that up here in the protected Puget Sound & San Juan waters.

Re: Farewell friends... From Mac26 to Cat36
Thanks guys. Paul T I sent you an email. Yes, hopefully we can meet and cruise next summer on our new big keelboats. Seapup. We did tons of looking online, mostly at yachtworld. When we finally got out to look at boats in person, we were going to see a Hunter. Nearby were two Catalinas. I fell in lo...

Farewell friends... From Mac26 to Cat36
It may be one small step for a sailor, but it's one giant, intimidating leap for yours truly!! Almost to the day, 5 years after buying our 3yr old :macm: , (but sailed only once by previous owner), now, for nearly the same amount we've moved up to a 28yr old Catalina C36. She's got "good bones&...

Re: Quick peek at my 2005 M
Russ, You prob. recognize the storage doors under the seats. They, along with the galley shelf are made from the head door which we never used (we have a simple curtain for the whole forward area now, for changing etc) Hey metronome, I think we've talked here before. Funny we haven't run into each o...

Quick peek at my 2005 M
Hi all. I don't think I've posted since last year. And I'm not sure if I'm in the right section. We are getting ready to trade over to a larger keelboat sail boat. So I took a few pics of some of my basic mods. The Mods section is for detailed focus on individual mods. I just wanted to show off mine...

Re: Kicker Motor Size
You don't want the kicker sticking outside the beam, or width, of the boat.....or it will get ripped off or knocked off.... Or you tie to a starboard side dock, as I do. And if one's not available in your visiting marina (during a hurricane), you turn the boat around. :D Life is compromises. My 3 p...

Re: Kicker Motor Size
My 2 stroke 9.9 pushes our :macm: at 6 knts. I think it weighs 70lbs (same as the 15hp version). I'm still fit enough to transfer it down to the dinghy (Tethered of course, in case I drop it) The trick is to tie the dinghy securely to the Mac while making the transfer. https://lh5.googleusercontent....

Re: Lightning Strike!
Wow! Were you on the boat when it went up on the rocks? Flathead Lake rocks seem to attract boats. I suspect that guy used his motor to get that high up on the rocks. Yes we were on the boat, until we abandoned ship, stern tied to Bird Island. The storm hit so fast, during dinner that I couldn't ge...

Re: Lightning Strike!
Thanks for the commiseration. I do have insurance and I guess I'll give them a call, but as usual, there are probably so many hoops to jump through regarding deductibles and hassle, that it might only be good for catastrophic loss. Plus, when you make a claim, they tend to raise your premiums and g...

Re: Power Without Ballast
The problem is that when you've got the boat heeled over under sail either direction, water will immediately begin flowing out of the tank Good point and I'll keep it in mind. I guess I've gradually been leaving the valve open more & more because I find myself doing so little sailing and just p...

Re: Power Without Ballast
What Ballast?? ...just kidding
Seriously, I've more or less quit paying attention...leaving the valve open all the time.
At high speeds it empties. which is what I want.
When I slow down (or sail) it fills back up.. which is what I want.
Simple... automatic.

Re: Has anyone added flooring?
Thanks everyone for your feedback and advise! It was a cheap and easy idea to use leftover laminate flooring. And. according to jbgibbs99 above it works fine. Well, I spent an hour cutting it to fit. It fits fine, but I just don't like the look of the light colored "Tacoma Oak". So before ...

Re: Has anyone added flooring?
Thanks. Yeah I did a search here in Mods with "Flooring" and came up empty. I need a little more creativity in searching I guess.yukonbob wrote: There are lots more in the mods section as well
