Re: LOOKING FOR REPLACEMENT TRAILER

I have available a 2001 Trailer for a Mac26X, located in Southern New Hampshire. Reconditioned last summer by Russell's Marine.

Re: Sea Lion Trailer for 26X

It came in at $3150 with all the Mods, (in tax-free NH). It's an S-24-T-5400B Tandem w/Disk Brake. http://www.traileroutlet.net 964 Laconia Rd Tilton, NH (603) 524-4344. Ask for Joe. You can stand on the fenders all day, and with the lifeline down I can even climb onto the boat from there. The boat ...

Re: Mooring Setup

Thanks for the response folks. Like K-9 said, Massabesic has some unique rules, like "Don't touch the water." According to the folks over at the Waterworks, the public mooring field's rocky bottom has a pretty mixed collection of anchors; Danforths, tire's filled with cement, a 5 gal bucke...

Mooring Setup

Hi All, Second summer with the 26X is rapidly approaching and this year we signed up for a mooring on Lake Massabesic (2561 ac). Water depth is 8-15 ft'. I'm planning on 240# (6) cindar blocks threaded on a galvinized chain. How does that sound? Also, what size chain and ball would you recommend? Th...

Re: Detmar vs Teleflex?

I did the Teleflex SS141-8 install today. Here's my advice... I placed the top edge of the new 2-1/4" hole on the top edge of the old hole. That worked well, but, the rack still has to tilt about 10deg in order to fit. I have a Merc 3000 thottle box on the starboard side of the pedestal, so the...

Detmar vs Teleflex?

Ok, the (original?) steering cable is half siezed, not a problem unless I want to turn to port. :) I can install a Teleflex SS141-8, means drilling a new hole in the boat :o. Or, I can get my hands on a 8' Detmar Vantage which looks like a bolt on. Is the Teleflex an upgrade? It looks like the same ...

Re: for the first time I wished I had a displacement hull

I envy all of you who can get your X to TURN. :x I've been playing with my X all summer in light winds and strong winds and cannot get the thing to tack! Last night was a good example -- strong wind and quite big waves. We pointed into the wind to raise our sail and once the sail was up we fell off...

Re: Anybody tried OpenCPN

I was going to buy Maptech, but I thought that they were sold to a new company and they were not going to support the product anymore. Did I get bad info? As far as charts, I think the NOAA site has some problems right now as I have been unable to get any new charts for at least the last five days....

Re: Newbie needs advice

"Based on my experience" (ah hem, a month) :) Rigging on the trailer, assuming no overhead threats, gives me one less thing to worry about. A couple extra clicks on the mast raiser and the furler pin slides in easy. Single handed dealing with the furler, spreaders, strouds, lifelines... is...
