Re: LAIKA survived Irene, with battle scars!

Congratulations Ed.. You never know what to do when one of those hurricanes is approaching. Your history makes me remember when I lived in Long Island in 1985 very close to Sinai Harbor. I was living with my family in Haupauge a few miles south of the Mt. Sinai. "Gloria" was the name.. For...

To DaveC426913.. I have expanded the picture.. See this one. http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd477/quintamala/bracketexpanded.jpg What I did was copying the out shape and holes of original in three pieces of 6 millimiters stainless steel: One "U" to insert the bracket axis, an 2 "...

Re: Port rudder bracket/mount/thingy cracked!?

I had the same problem long ago.
Aluminum brackets loose their shape due to wear and forces applied.
I end with trouble with stainless steel as shown in this picture

Good luck

Re: help needed shroud lines

Months ago, I took all my 98 :macx: shorouds lines from the mast (baby stays, backstay, complete forestay) to a local nautical store in Las Palmas (Canary Islads). They sold me a new brand set of lines for 140 euros. Tension adjusters plates were not included as originals were in good shape. I didn´...

Re: Spinnaker versus Whisker pole?

I'm almost finished with my home made whisker pole. I looked for a light pole (and cheap..) but all I've seen recently is out of weight ... or budget  Cost? -paint roller -Paint roller extender -miscellaneous (aluminum.. chords.. etc) -time consuming (but I keep busy :) 8) ) Here you can see t...

Re: 1999x questions

ScottCReeve.. Rain water on :macx: is collected mostly on both sides where the gas tanks are allocated. See the lower inside border: You´ll see there a compound sealant along both compartements. I removed old sealant recently an replace with new stuff. After aplying new sealant, I painted it (as pre...

Re: Dead Etec - ideas please

Last year, it hapened to me.. But it was worse.. Once I moved my :macx: out in the midle of the river going backwards, my old Suzuki sudenly stoped when shifting to forward. I don´t remember exactly what I did with the throttle lever, but the motor seemed to be dead. The boat began to move faster du...

Re: Average Length of Furler Line

Greetings jcasale.. Total should be genoa "foot" (+/- 17 feet) plus roller-to-winch distance. (no lees than 35 feet total). Have in mind to add 2-3 feet to tie the end rope to the roller an a couple of extra turns. 40 feet is a good choice. Rope section: I use 8 mm nylon rope(0,3 inch diam...

Re: water leak

Jose... You don´t say if it´s fresh water (rain or regular boat wash)... or sea water (salt taste).. I have an :macx: . I don´t know on :macm: I had trouble with my fresh water ballast (below cushions on V-berth). Regular boat movement operates as a sand on the ballast and leakage was bigger each ti...
