Re: Sailing on Lake Koshkonong and Lake Delavan WI

Thanks, I saw the depth map, but it is from 1969. :o There is a sailing school on lake delavan too. There is actually a kind of funny video on youtube about some racers scaring the crap of some fishermen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KKtTNBa6mI&feature=player_embedded I know that Lake delavan...

Sailing on Lake Koshkonong and Lake Delavan WI

Has anyone ever sailed Lake Koshkonong in Wisconsin? It is a very shallow lake, but it is really big. The average depth of the lake is 6ft and the bottom of the lake is muck. Same question for lake Delavan. I stopped by Lake Lawn Marina (lake delavan) last weekend and there was an X slipped there, s...

Re: Lake geneva fun

I thought the sign said "no sailboat rigging in parking lot", and I figured they meant it. There is a small gravel lot just down the road from the launch. This is where you are suppose to rig your boat. There are no trees or power lines from the gravel lot to the launch. There is also a l...

Re: Lake geneva fun

Lake geneva is a beautiful lake. Wish I could afford to keep my boat on it. Before I found out that the Abby resort/marina was on the wrong side of bridge I got their pricing. At $6,000 for a 26' slip I about fell out of my chair. I was not impressed with the Williams Bay launch when I was there. I ...

Re: Transient slip Chicago

The Chicago marinas are just too crowded for me, especially on the weekends. If you are nervous about Chicago, Milwaukee is a good stepping stone. Drive the extra 2 hours up to Milwaukee, they have a beautiful harbor and launch ramp. If you have a dinghy you can cruise up the river (or raise a few b...

Re: gear shift cables kaput

I have the honda bf50A and I replaced them this spring. I ordered them from boatersworld.com (they are higher priced now and out of stock). 13' was plenty of cable. Order two and replace the shifter and the throttle. They are very simple to replace and they just screw on. Take the motor cover off an...

Re: Electric water project

I am starting to work on this project with a few minor changes. I am curious as to what you used for the pipe into the actual water container itself (the hard white looking plastic pipe). It might save me some time at the hardware store trying to find something that will work.

Re: Electric water project

I guess it is no worse for you than drinking from a garden hose. I kid that many times as a kid and I am still here. :D

Thanks for the easy idea and the pics to put it all together.

Re: Electric water project

Kind of an older thread, but I was curious about the manual priming bulb used in this setup. Where did you get it and what is it? All I can find is fuel priming bulbs. I am not sure if they are drinking water safe. I like the simple setup for this water system and I am looking at doing something sim...

Re: Honda 50 issue

I picked the boat up from the repair shop yesterday. They fixes the motor fine, but they damaged the trailer. At the tounge of the part that latched from the bottom to secure around the ball was badly bent up. I could not connect it to the car. I had them come out and look at it, and we got it to wo...

Re: Honda 50 issue

Just heard from the mechanic. You were right Crickey, it was a bad seal on the intake manifold. There was also one broken bolt (I did not do it, it was like it when I started) and I guess that did not help with the seal. So for $311 they fixed the issue, synced the carbs and adjusted the throttle li...

Re: Honda 50 issue

I got too frustrated with the motor. I took it to the repair shop over the weekend. They are suppose to be able to look at it later this week. We will see what is wrong with it. :? I keep thinking about selling the boat and getting a keel boat since I am on Lake Michigan and the Mac is a little ligh...

Re: Honda 50 issue

So I have the new carbs installed on the motor and I was trying to sync the carbs. It really is giving me problems. The gauges I have are still bouncing around a fair amount. I got the carbs synced as best as I could. My light was running out, so I might have to check on them again tomorrow. I notic...

Re: Honda 50 issue

It came from the exhaust in the prop. I had it in a garbage can tank, but it was spitting out too much gunk, so I switched to the ear muffs. All sorts of nasty coming out the exhaust. I did check to make sure it was carbon and not oil. It was pure black, smelled like exhaust, and did not feel like o...

Re: Honda 50 issue

I got the carbs apart this weekend, not too bad of a job. However, after looking at the carbs and the parts I needed, I decided to just order the entire carb assembly from boats.net. For only $479 I will get entirely new parts and not have to worry about getting everything clean. There was also some...
