Re: SSB RECEIVER 4 WEATHER
No. That is a CB radio masquerading as a ham radio so that it can be imported to the US.

Re: 26X "Mac Slap"
Well, You might not want to "fix" it. Very possibly Roger designed it the way it is for a purpose, called a gybing centerboard. Below are some results on this forum for the term and you can do a general search on the web. https://www.macgregorsailors.com/forum/search.php?keywords=%22gybing...

Re: SSB RECEIVER 4 WEATHER
Just get a Baofeng and program in a few weather channels in your location. Mine was under $50cnd I have loads programmed into it. (using their s/w tool) And can be used to transmit AD These radios will not do HF, or SSB, they are strickly VHF/UHF low powered hand helds and only transmit and receive...

Re: SSB RECEIVER 4 WEATHER
Nice. Got any AFFORDABLE suggestions? On a tight budget. I'm not trying to be snarky, but if you cannot afford a $60 radio, you probably have no business going to the Bahamas. Please read my posts in this topic. All of the information that you need is there. https://www.macgregorsailors.com/forum/v...

Re: SSB RECEIVER 4 WEATHER
The radio posted above will not do what you want. You need an HF receiver that will demodulate SSB. The following unit would be suitable and gets pretty good reviews. It's nothing fancy and would not be considered a "communications receiver", but for your needs in the Bahamas, it should wo...

Re: SSB RECEIVER 4 WEATHER
Ray, I believe he wants a Shortwave radio in ADDITION to the VHF. The shortwave would be for those local Bahama weather forecasts and that's why he doesn't need the thing to broadcast. Yes, there is confusion by the use of SSB (Single SideBand). Although SSB is used throughout the radio spectrum, f...

Re: Heeling to 35 degrees in 10 mph wind
My Admiral has been spooked by a very bad storm we went through. She is terrified of heeling. I have learned two (no three) ways to ensure it's not a problem: 1. Reef the main before setting out. It makes for a very uneventful (if slow) day. 2. Keep the main sheet across your lap. Any unwanted heel...

Re: The fight for non-binary rights is not over!
The radio button was first introduced as an Internet standard in 1995 in RFC 1866. It gets its name from the radio buttons that (most) of us remember in cars where you could press a button that had been set to one of your favorite stations. Thanks Bill. I knew what they were, but not why. Makes sen...
