Re: Had a bad day
Kmclemore thanks for fixing my links. YBNormal that second pic shows only smoke damage. That thick black smoke from the smoldering plastic blackens everything especially higher up. Boat you lose the donut. The fire didn't start behind the electrical panel. My X was a 97 the electrical panel is on a ...

Had a bad day
I was trailering back from our spring sail at Kentucky Lake when an electrical short on the boat caused a fire in the cabin. Insurance are going to write it off but I don't know yet how I'm going to come out on it. I'm quite sure I won't be coming out ahead and I am boatless in the spring. Here's so...

Re: Tenn Mac Rendevous Yes , No , Maybe?
Is there no interest in this? The admiral and I are going down to the Tennessee river area to get some early sailing in and were hoping to meet a few local Mac sailors. We should be there about the middle of April. Probably Pickwick Lake or Kentucky Lake open to suggestions. If anybody is interested...

Re: Tender Oil Mixing Blues
Simple. I use a 25 litre jerry can to mix a 50:1 mix. So I put in 500ml or 1/2 a litre
of oil to 25 litres of gas. For 100:1 use 250 ml or 1/4 litre of oil to 25 litres of gas.

Re: Another silly question !
I too thought there should be a cap on the top of the mast back when I first got my X. I assumed it had gotten lost. I ran across mast caps for the X somewhere on the internet. I can't remember where. But for $10 I ordered it and it fit perfect. A couple of screws to secure it and its been there for...

Re: Mid-South Macgregor 26X or M owners
Even tho its a 3day drive one way for us we would still be interested if its in April. We were thinking of heading down to the spring Mead Madness but with the fall one being cancelled due to water levels that puts the spring one into question. So we were planning to head to the Tennessee river for ...

Re: Would you take a MacGregor 26X into the Rocky Shield?
I also am from Sask & also have an X. I've sailed on Last Mountain, Lenore Lake, Deifenbaker Candle, Tobin, the heart lakes and my favorite Deschambault. And yes it does have rocks but if you watch and use a depth sounder it is manageable and well worth it. The best part is the abundance of anch...

Re: Rudder rope?
I just picked up 3/8 bungee cord from my local Ag supply. They sell it
for secureing tarps. Works good I don't have a Link for it.

Re: Rudder rope?
Use 3/8 bungee cord, 12ft for each rudder. It works much
better than rope.

Re: New and Improved Mast Crutch Roller
Yes I see it will work by angling in the outside of the outside disks.
I've used alot of ideas off this site and this will definitely be another one.
Thanks for the reply.

If you register it as home built most jurisdictions will assign a serial #
and provide a sticker to go on the tongue.

Re: New and Improved Mast Crutch Roller
Looks good. But looking at the picture if you make the inside of the roller
a larger diameter wont the outside ones be too large for the stock crutch.
I definitely will be making something like this, this winter.

Re: Masts & Lightning
I may be wrong but I think all this concern over lightning is only a concern. I have been anchored out in some pretty wild thunder storms and my main concern was the wind and the waves not lightning. The odds of being hit are so minimal its not worth worrying about. Its like worrying about what you'...

Re: confirm swing keel drop question (short).
Yes the rope is the only thing controlling the lifting and lowering
of the keel on an X. It can't drop down when on the trailer as there
is a bunk in the way. Be sure to have the rope tight and cleated
when you launch the boat.
