Re: Chesapeake Bay

I am unable to Trailer my Mac from The Potomac to the Chesapeake at the moment, but I will be in the area on Sunday if anyone is looking for an extra hand during the day. Plus I would love to do some sailing and see everyone's Macgregors as mine is new and not fully modified yet. Let me know and I c...

Mac Owners on the Chesapeake (relocating)

I am currently in the Virginia suburbs of Washington DC. My Mac has been on the Potomac River for a year now. This past weekend I visited / bar hopped all around Chesapeake Beach, North Beach, Mayo, and Deale Maryland and absolutely loved it. I decided that I need to relocate my Mac to the Chesapeak...

Re: Upgrading winches

I was playing with the notion of self-tailing Lewmar 16s aft of the genoa tracks, till I got a pair of those Garhauer Swivel Cam Cleats from Kelly-Hanson. They allen-screw to the aft bolt-holes of the genoa tracks, so I can reach the jib sheets from the helm. I put turning blocks onto the rail at th...

Water? Drain?

IN my 2009 Mac M... I have a sink. Where does the water drain out after going down? I noticed the small hole low on the stern? Is that where the sink drains out? Also is that the bildge? Why so low? What happens to water that enters this hole? How important is it to get a bildge pump? Lots of questi...

Re: First Winter with my new Mac.

Well.. It was 67 degrees today. Winter is over.. and the ballast never froze. I was walking on ICE in 8 degree weather to check on it. Each week I checked and the ballast was never frozen, or even slush.. Good to know.
Thanks for the advise. Happy Sailing

Re: Beaching as an Art Form

Good Question..
Depends where you are I guess. Not too much boat traffic where I am but I would still keep a light on.
By the way.. How much battery power is used in leaving a mast light or running light on all night? I hope I can start up the engine at dawn!

Re: First Winter with my new Mac.

Hey, Thanks for all of the comments. Should be very helpful. It still has not frozen, but I will try something this weekend. I can't empty it while running because the motor is winterized, and there is ice on the river. My plan was to find a way to pump it but have not been successful finding a pump...

First Winter with my new Mac.

Hey, This will be my first winter with my 09' Mac26. I am in Washington DC and had 2 concerns about the winter here. Most boats stay in the water throughout the winter here. Mine will as well. Most boats are barely winterized, if winterized at all. It does get cold though. The river does not ice ove...
