Re: Tiller Extension for V17
those are used on little race boats so you can hike out and still control the rudder. Not much need on a keel boat. I think the hole is there to tie a line so it can be locked into position I will have to disagree, Tiller extensions are used on boats of any size. The biggest reason you would need o...

Re: Finally the maiden voyage after a year
I wouldn't do it on a 25 ! :) It's not that hard as long as you have good balance. The quick pins do make it easier, but even with no pin at all, after the first shroud is connected you can pull tight to the other side and as long as there is tension on the pin it's not going to come out. So then yo...

Re: Tiller Extension for V17
West Marine has them. I just tie my tiller off when I want to move forward for a minute or two and it does fine. Never really needed an extension

Re: Finally the maiden voyage after a year
What do you mean by "backwards?" Isn't there only one way to step the mast? Mechanically speaking? This is what I mean : http://www.flickr.com/photos/25826781@N07/3642141333/in/photostream/ I leave the forestay attached all the time. I loosen the turnbuckle 10 turns and tighten it back af...

Re: Finally the maiden voyage after a year
Yay, good for you.
What did you have trouble with in stepping the mast ? I do mine by myself with no trouble.... I do it backwards from most people but i find it's easier that way.

Chyrsler has had terrible transmissions for the past 15 years. There engines aren't very dependable either, past 60k.

Re: 1972 Venture 2-22 Reburbish
If you have a building that has expozed rafters, or some other way that you can lift the deck from the hull, I would seperate them. It will make it easier to get the job done more thoroughly. I felt like, with my boat, that I was opening a can of worms. I actually was, but if I hadn't , the worms wo...

Re: 1972 Venture 2-22 Reburbish
Ah, the fun begins ! I look forward to watching your progress. I too, would agree that white will make the boat look more modern. Another thing it will do is hide imperfections in the fiberglass. The darker you go in color , the more perfect the fiberglass must be. As far as weighing the mast or oth...

My Venture 17 came from your area several years ago ( St Petersburgh area ) and I drug her up here and rebuilt her. She's currently looking for a new, more active home. I'm under your price range if you want another look, pm me.

Re: Wow, Roller Coaster Ride.
I'm 7 hours inland, so no danger here. We won't even get any rain from Earl, but Saturday is supposed to be 79 dgrees and a 10 to 15 mph breeze. I plan on being on the water
