Re: naught a knot
I'm no sure what the technical term is for it, but what I use is similar to what Chinook discribed. I secure one end, typically with a bowline, and then tie another small loop bowline a foot or so (depending on how much stretch I'm tyring to take up) from the other anchor point. Run the tag end thru...

Re: Sold my 50, buying the Etec90
I hesitate to post as the info I offer with regards to weight is not 100% accurate :?, but here we go; I installed a 90 pontoon series with a13-3/4" x 13 three blade stainless prop and achieved appx 5300 rpm. First tried a 15 pitch but just barely reached 5000, so dealer recommended the 13 pitc...

Re: etec 90 rpm issue
Agree with others; sounds like a bad tach. With my :macx: medium/heavy loaded a 13 3/4" x 15 pitch hits 5000 rpm. I dropped down to 13 3/4" x 13 pitch and rev to 5200+. Top end is only 24 mph but I finally have REVERSE that will give you whiplash 8). BTW I'm running the pontoon series whic...

Re: possible fuel locker leaks
Thanks Russ, I was more concerned with leakage directly from the fuel locker, but accumulation and subsequent leakage in the engine well is probably much more likely and dangerous. I wonder at what point gonfishin's bilge pump went out. That could have disasterous had it kicked in to pump gas. Thats...

Re: possible fuel locker leaks
Jbgibbs99, I did the same thing a few years back and the seams are looking a bit funky again. I considered stripping out the old 4200 and resealing, but if no one has had an issue with leaks, I think I'll let it be.
Thanks
Chris

possible fuel locker leaks
I currently have no known issue with leakage, but the thought of fuel leaking into the rear birth has crossed my mind. I would hope that Mcgregor paid special attention in designing around the fuel lockers, but some reassurance from the experts will put my mind at ease. Has anyone experienced or hav...

What are the options on wedges? Are they intended to increase pulling power from hole shot?

Re: 90etec ponton series
If your rpm is topping out at 4000 you're a bit overpitched. Hope the 14x15 performs well for you. Let us know.
Thanks

90etec ponton series
Thanks largely to recommendations from many on-board, I finally pulled the trigger on the 90 pontoon series. The motor won't be installed for a few more weeks, and I can hardly wait to see how it performs. In a previous post I said, I had a spare 13x15 prop (on my current 70 hp Johnson) but it's act...

Re: Crazy idea for stub mast riser
Hey Boblee, I agree, if I raise the roller, I'll have to beef it up a bit; I'll figure something out, but a couple pics of your setup would undoubtably help. Thanks I've never given much thought to waterfowling down under, but since you mentioned it; do you get "LOCALS" that migrate from c...

Re: Crazy idea for stub mast riser
Thanks Boblee; looks like I'll have to rig up an extension or adjustable tube and sleeve to raise the carrier a foot.

Re: Crazy idea for stub mast riser
Raising the mast could definitely be an issue without additional reinforcement to handle the moment arm introduced by moving the fulcrum up a foot. I haden't given that much thought, as I was more focused on loads during sailing. Either condition could be fairly easily addressed, but in light of the...

Re: Crazy idea for stub mast riser
Boblee, my rear arch holds the mast right at 80" from the deck at the engine well to the bottom of the mast. In hindsight, I wish I' d have gone higher, and just may try that, it would be alot easier mod than a stub mast/ tabernacle. Yours looks to be a good foot taller than mine; do you happen...
