Winch webbing failure
While pulling our boat last weekend our brand NEW winch webbing failed. Luckily we always watch the boat as it comes out of the water and pull up very slowly. We also attach some line between boat and trailer just in case. Happy to report all is well.... http://lh4.ggpht.com/_k2fA1I5UQ_U/TM8x--Bxs7I...

We have a 1999 Honda 50 on Webfoot and it was doing the exact thing you describe. We got the carbs done and now it runs like a champ.

Ugly 26X cushion covers
After taking our 26X cushions to an upholstery place and getting a $1,000 (not including aft- and V-berth) quote to get them recovered I am now considering other options. I'm not a big fan of those brown ones from softopper and they are out of the blue. Sadly, I'm not advanced enough on my sewing ma...

Questions about installing a kicker outboard
Fellow MacSailors, We want to install a kicker outboard on our 1999 26X on an adjustable outboard bracket on the transom. This will mainly be for our Walker Bay but also to power the X in case of a Honda breakdown. A few questions: Which will work better, a short shaft or long shaft? What is the sma...

Re: M26 Roller Furler Recommendation for Genoa
Our furlerline used to get jammed up all of the time until we attached a small block to the pulpit so the furling line goes right into the middle of the drum. We don't even use the eye on deck. It works perfectly now! See (inferior quality) photo: http://picasaweb.google.com/verena.kellner/SVWebfoot...

Re: laptop GPS
Having a laptop on board is my preferred way to go. Before any trip I download the most up to date charts for FREE from NOAA. Remember that NOAA supplies charts for free, but when you buy a chartplotter you pay to have them put the free(!) charts on a proprietary chip that is very costly. Does anyon...

WEBFOOT
The name came with the boat, so we named the dinghy TENDERFOOT, and if we ever get a bigger boat we'll name it BIGFOOT

Re: The best way to wash dishes onboard?
We added a Y-valve to our galley sink hose. The second hose gets hung into the ballast tank so we can use saltwater while doing dishes. When the dishes are clean switch back to freshwater hose and rinse!

Re: Shipping boat from west to east coast....and back?!
Thanks! All very interesting ideas. We were thinking that since Mac dealers ship new boats all over the country to their clients that this would not be such a big deal. Has anyone gotten their new boat shipped to them? Do you know how it was shipped to you? The mac site talks about shipping two macs...

Shipping boat from west to east coast....and back?!
So we had this crazy idea of wanting to sail to the Bahamas. This idea included towing the boat from Oregon to Florida. The we realized that driving cross country would take about two weeks of just sitting in the car leaving us with only four weeks in paradise. So. Now we are thinking why not just s...
