Re: Florida Keys Advice
Greetings. I have trailered my V25 down from the Chesapeake 4 times, staying from 2-3 each time. Once in Jan-Feb, once mid March, once mid April and once April-May. While the temperatures were much better than back in Maryland, the winds were mostly on the high side for nice, comfortable sailing in ...

Re: Cracks in non-skid and my plan
I used Kiwi Grip over the non-skid on my V25. I'm happy with the results, and it was fairly easy to do.

Re: Upper shroud and forestay attachment
Ray, yes I live a short boat ride (or a longer car ride in miles) from HDG. My wife and I frequently go there for dinner. Let me know when you are there and we can see if we can get together. Always good to meet fellow Mac owners.

My bad for not seeing the OP had an
I figured the rigs on all the Macs were more similar. That set-up would make Rube Goldberg jealous.

Re: Upper shroud and forestay attachment
That is totally wrong setup. The uppers need to be on the back side of the mast (swept back spreaders right??) Those tabs are held on by the bolt going through the mast and angle to the rear of mast. The forestay attaches to the mast hound facing forwards. Having some kind of swivel joint is a good ...

Re: MacGregor Spring Break Meetup 2024
Thanks for your reply. I won't be able to make it this year, but am planning a trip down there next year in late April to early May. Did the park give you any idea on how far in advance one needs to make the reservations?

Re: MacGregor Spring Break Meetup 2024
Slips? no cost?? sounds like a great deal. Where is the marina there? I stayed there 10 years ago and there was only tying up to the concrete bulkhead in the park basin, and there was a charge. Are you able to leave your tow rig parked there?

Re: Moving the forestay chain plate.
This is how I moved and replaced my forward chain plate (V25 but similar to a 26). A piece of ss flat stock, some bolts and a little epoxy work. Pretty easy. https://forums.sailboatowners.com/media/new-stem-fitting.10925/full?d=1443911556 https://forums.sailboatowners.com/media/stem-fitting-and-led-...

Re: Rub rail replacement for 1985 Mac 25
All those "little nuts and bolts" also hold the deck to the hull. It would be a huge job to remove all the alum extrusion, not to mention expensive. If you do it, it would be a good time to reseal the deck/hull joint. I have read some accounts of others having difficulties getting the two ...

Are you looking for the rubber strip or the actual aluminum extrusion?

Florida Keys trip 2019
Here are afew short videos from my trip down to the upper Keys in April. My 3rd trip down from Maryland in 6 years. I think the Keys are the perfect place to sail a MacGregor!

Re: Add ballast
I added a bag of sand under the v-berth for extra weight to pound through waves better. One could also put weight under the liner above and next to the keel trunk. Also, there should be a hose on your keel cable "guide" to keep water out when heeled over. https://forums.sailboatowners.com/...
