Re: Mast Support
There is no problem to tie up the mast to prevent it to swing from side to side. Just a mooring line fasten across will do the job. But to prevent the mast to swing up and down ... it is another ball game ! Have you ever observe your mast during tralering ... scaring ! :| So the idea is to build a C...

Re: Mast Support
A center mast support that would fit into the mast riser attachment ... to prevent the mast to swing all over the place when trailering ... other than nailed 2x4 and sewage pipes !

What would be the thickness of the MacGregor 26M 2007 hull, just below the after rubber fender in the area of the master cabin, so to insert a porthole ? Have you ever done that type of improvement ? What type of porthole did you fixed ? There is a lack of ventilation in the Master and Mistress cabi...

Re: New Aluminium Trailer ?
On the MacGregor web site, it looks like that the deluxe galvanized axle is made of two part, joined together to form an angle to reinforce the axle on its centre ! It is evident that MacGregor knew that problem and resolved it … http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/9854/trailer.gif http://www.macgreg...

Re: New Aluminium Trailer ?
I forgot, the motor is a Honda BF50 … Well, it is not the end of the world. I will recuperate the aluminium frame and supports, the wheels, the hydraulic actuator and lines … and I will rebuild it to safe standards. Most probably in tandem. I will design an adjustable V rubber knuckle to eliminate t...

I wish to thank you all for your concern. Now you seem to consider the problem seriously, because it is ! The trailer is a genuine MacGregor built in November 2006, serial 116 BK17A37C001015, axle A348452, 4,200 lbs GVWR. It as only 2,000 miles. It came with surge breaks, but the axle is not galvani...

Re: New Aluminium Trailer ?
Hi Versatile- Sorry to hear about (and see!) your problem. A couple of questions... Is it possible that the boat was trailered with the ballast full and the yield strength of the axel exceeded (bending it)- giving the negative wheel camber? When the weight is removed (draining the ballast) the axel...
