Re: towing with the dodger and bimini on

I towed at highway speeds (65 mph) in Fl. The top material on a stainless frame stretched and not much later ripped where it had been stretched. Take the bimini down.

Re: Does Ipad have GPS, A-GPS, or ????

They triangulate off the cell phone towers so it can only work in cell phone areas - at least thats what I believed until this thread said different. I know y'all want to believe your cellphone has a dedicated satellite receiving gps but that is not correct. This is the correct answer for 90% of ce...

Re: Cleaning the boat :)

What do you use to clean the hull? I Use Water. Every third trip, While wet I apply Woody Wax with a rag and a stick. I do not remove. The ocean removs any excess. Woody makes the salt slide off with a hose. How often do you wax/polish the hull? I have the hull polished in winter with Turtle was pol...

Re: LOA with Trailer?

Hello, I'm wondering what the overall, tip-to-tip, length is of a MacGregor 26x on a factory trailer including up-rudders and engine. I'm trying to determine if one will fit in my driveway without spilling over onto the sidewalk too much and every inch will matter. cheers 31.5' but can be shortened...

Re: BF50 max speed 9MPH no matter what

If your motor does not reach at least 5,000 rpms, Your prop needs to be changed. It probably is the stock prop. Check your motors owner's manual. it tells you max rpm for that motor. Check rpms at WOT. If it does not reach the owner's manual indicated top rpms then the prop is inadequate. You should...

Re: 2001 GMC SAFARI van struggling after long haul

If it started missing after the run I would take it to a good well known mechanic. You could have burnt a gasket and water could be getting into a cylinder, hence the rough running. If you no fix you pay for new engine. No matter what overheating up hill means it needs additional cooling. An afterma...

Re: 600 NM Trip and......... Danforths suck

Was that a real Danforth (R) or one of those popular cheap knock-offs that wont hold a dinghy? A Fortress is not a Danforth! It's a light aluminum toy.. I use a 5# real danforth and it grabs first time all the time. I had a knock off but gave it away. So far it has held at up to 35 mph wind strenght...

Re: sailing to Catalina Island 1st week of April 2012 any tips?

Can't remember ever making it to Catalina's Avalon from MDR without the island being surrounded by a fog donut. Many times had to follow a Yacht throught the soup. Once withing 1/4 mile of Avalon we would get through the soup and end up in warm sunny weather. 1. Check weather day before departure. W...

You will not achieve Warp Speed with the ballast tank full. Ballast tanks should be empty when using transdrive..

Re: Best battery for a trolling motor on a Dinghy?

Where did you get that 4hp 2S Evinrude? Those motors run smooth. I was looking for one and gave up. Have gone through several small 4 stroke engines and the sssshhhshsshhshsaaaaaakkkkkeeee so much they make your steering arm hurt. One of them felt like it would rip the stern off. I remember those 4h...

Re: How to Install a larger 90+ HP Motor

Try Spray Rails. They will deflect the water to the side and down. Most powerboats have the designed into the hull but they do sell them. Newer high speed offshore sailboats have them.

Re: Mac trailer sway control

Either move your trailer wheels aft a bit or move the boat forward on the trailer. It sways because you do not have enough tongue weight or the boat is not place correctly on trailer. Also make sure your tires are inflated to the maximum pressure indicated on the sidewalls. The tires do not blow up ...
