Re: Twin Jibs

Highlander - Thanks for posting the videos.
How much did they improve your speed? I figure to put them on one furler for easy of control when solo. I know it is crazy to fly a spinnaker single handed.

Re: Building a homemade roller furler

I have built several of these PVC Furlers. They work great. Put it on the main forestay. Use one inch PVC and start at the top by adding a 1 inch to 3/4 coupler. This will give you a good place to secure the top grommet. Streach it down the PVC, adding couplers and PVC as needed and zip tie's to hol...

Twin Jibs

I saw this on you tube, twin head sails on one furler. I though it might be better than a spinnaker for single hand sailing. It looks easy to work with.
I have upgraded my forestay. Anyone tried this?
Thanks

Re: Andiamo takes a close seconded place

Hey Newell, we did not arrive until Wed pm. The winds were too much for my crew (wife) on Friday. Next year we will be there earlier and join in on all of the racing. From what I have hear, you are the one to beat. You took off like a shot on the LD race. The rotating mast is a good mod and doesn't ...

Andiamo takes a close seconded place

We just returned from the HPCC 2013 at Havasu. We entered in the manufactures cup race and took second place. We were beat out by a bow spit at the finish line. It was very close. The winds were almost non existent and the rotating mast did it's job on this 1988 26D. My GPS was showing .4, .6 when e...

Swing Keel Buzzing

We sailed my friends 1994 MacGregor 26S for the first time this week and I noticed a light buzzing sound coming from the swing keel as we got up to speed. 4-5 knots. This normal?
Thanks

Re: MacGregor is at it again!

Like I said, "If I had" but, I didn't raise the DB or drop the ballast. Nope, I went after him fully loaded and draggin the board. Fact is I never have run with out ballast for fear it will turtle but I have forgotten to lower the board once or twice. Boat don't turn worth a darn with no D...

MacGregor is at it again!

While I was crewing a 45 Morgan Center Cockpit from Oxnard to San Francisco, Mike from MacGregor called and needed my boat for some more mesurements. (remember when they asked to use a 26D last year and I was the lucky one to respond) They came up to my place in the high desert, picked up the boat a...

Re: Things that go bump in the night

Sleep Overs can be challenging. We spent several nights at the Santa Barbara Yacht D dock with the winds blowing like crazy. Bumpers squeeking, lines banging, flags flapping and waves slapping. Lucky for us, the rudder and DB are quiet. After I tie everything down, I use my Ipod and head phones with...

Re: One broken wire on forestay

Thanks Sum!

I have room for adjustment with the turn buckles so I will see how it works. The stay should be here today.
Thanks for the photos.

Re: One broken wire on forestay

Ok, I need a picture of how it should be. I have the eye at the top going through a D ring http://www.macgregor26.com/instruction_manual/OWNERS%20INSTRUCTIONS.pdf page 5. The top shrouds are on either side of the forestay. The D ring goes through the hound. So do I put a toggle through the forestay ...
