Re: 26X available in the UK
Cardiff Bay is beautiful. My wife and I visited last year because we live in a town named for Cardiff. Yes it is an interesting place with a huge sailing history. Last weekend we had a round Extreme Sailing World series - seeing those boats flying along at close quarters is quite a sight. Some TV f...

26X available in the UK
After 3 years we have decided to move onto something longer, heavier, less powerful, older, etc. I know, I know, that it doesn't sense in some ways but in others it does make sense. We are moving onto something (undecided as yet) that will take across the Irish Sea and to France and beyond. We have ...

2 more. Going up the River Avon into Bristol on a 13.5m spring tide. http://www.cardiffyachtclub.org/images/pics/Bristol190812/71small.JPG This one doesn't meet the rules because there is no part of the Mac in the photo. However, the Mac was moored up for the night about 20' from where the photo was...

Re: Pictures taken from your MacGregor
Wow. I haven't been on here for a while and it's great to see how this thread has grown. Also amazing to see the different views from other Mac's. Here are some I took on the weekend. http://www.cardiffyachtclub.org/images/pics/Bristol190812/96small.JPG http://www.cardiffyachtclub.org/images/pics/Br...

Re: 26X centerboard is stuck - won't drop down!
Yesterday I tried to push the centerboard down with a long piece ow 1/4" wooden dowel. It just snapped and I was lucky it didn't get stuck. Today I tried again with a thicker piece of wood but without success. I tried banging on the side of the casing but without any luck. My next plan was to p...

Re: 26X centerboard is stuck - won't drop down!
If all this is not possible or does not lead to a positive result, how about thrilling a small hole on top of the centerboard housing and push the rudder down there? Close this hole afterwards in that way that You can get access to the rudder again, You might need it  :) rainer May need to do...

Great ideas. Banging on the side of the casing is a very good idea.
Thanks

26X centerboard is stuck - won't drop down!
Our 26X is moored all year in a fresh water bay. Today, I released the centerboard rope and it didn't drop down. Normally, it would drop down and you would hear the clunk as it reached the end of it's swing. I guess that there has been some build up of slime or something that is holding it in place....

Re: Inflatable dinghy advice on a 26X
For once it seems that inflatable tenders are cheaper in the UK. E.g £249 inc P/P (~$£400) at http://www.marinescene.co.uk/product/83 ... 29-free-pp Don't often get to point this out.

Re: Inflatable dinghy advice on a 26X
Investigate an inflatable kayak such as a SeaEagle 270 or 370. I carry mine on the port cabin top, when I carry it. Most of the time I tow it. That leaves the starboard cabin top for easy access forward, doesn't interfere with the sails, and is not quite so visibility restricting. That sounds inter...

Inflatable dinghy advice on a 26X
I need to sort out a new tender (or canoe) that I can use from our 26X. We already have a 2.9m round tail inflatable which has proved ideal in the past as a way to get to our boat when it was on a mooring. However, it is too big for what we now need. However, now the requirement has changed. Mainly ...

Re: Simple reefing system at the mast
Well I carried out the modification and I am very pleased indeed. I didn't use a block on the sail reef points and judging by the low effort needed to reef in the sail, it is fine. In fact it works superbly well and the first time I did it I could reef the sail in well under a minute. It remains to ...

Re: Simple reefing system at the mast
Thanks sumner. That was most useful and I can see from what you have done that I am not too far off in my ideas.
