Re: Where is everyone?

I am here, reading and learning and enjoying. I don’t post often. I’ve been on this site for years and yes, it is very quiet compared to times past. I would love to help make it a vibrant resource again. For a long time, it would not keep me logged in or let me change my password to something I coul...

Re: Stiff steering

I would also recommend replacement. A number of years ago, I tried to remove the inner cable and lubricate. Not worth it. I replaced mine with a no feedback system and it holds steering wheel position and you can let go of the wheel and do something quickly without the boat going crazy. If your sail...

Canada rules & North Channel

We are planning a trip to the North Channel of Lake Huron in late July/early August. I’m confused by a couple things and I need information from people who have been there. First, there are conflicting resources on whether I can use my VHF radio if I don’t have a radio license. One source says that ...

Re: Where to mount kicker on an X

Thanks guys. The original ladder was difficult, so I made a little platform on the port side and attached a 4 step ladder to it. Then I installed a grab handle. That makes things easier for me and the Admiral, who are both nearing 70! In some ways, that is why I’m considering a port side kicker moun...

Where to mount kicker on an X

I am about to mount a 3.5 hp auxiliary motor (Kicker) but I haven’t drilled any holes in the boat. “Drilling holes in the boat” moments always gives me a very long pause, especially since this will be the first holes I’ve drilled below transom level. My plan was to put the kicker on the starboard si...

Re: What will you miss most about your Mac when you size up to another boat?

I want a big, teak filled sailboat that we could live on like a Union Polaris! I also want a big teak and mahogany filled trawler that we could live on, and not mess with sails and rigging and no wind....but we live in Missouri and I really don’t like going to the same lake every time. I like to go ...

Re: Does this look right?

It did work! I got it back together and started to bleed the brakes and realized a brake line was broken. I replaced the line and bled the brakes and things worked fantastic! The master cylinder from Bluewater Yachts is very good. It replaces the one from Champion trailers which had a rust problem....

Re: Does this look right?

Wow! Just what I needed! And right when I needed it! I was about to abandon having that break-away work and bleed the brakes and be done with it. I had tried to put that lever in front but then I could not get the master cylinder to move far enough forward. Now that I KNOW that it is supposed to be ...

Re: Does this look right?

I agree! I have a cable attached and have religiously attached ot to the truck. But the lever coming out the top, that the cable is attached to is not attached to anything else! Inside the actuator, it just hangs there. I would think the lever would have to fire a spring or drop a another lever or s...

Does this look right?

I received a new master cylinder for my mid 90s MacGregor 26X trailer from BWY. As I was installing it, I couldn’t understand how the breakaway lever was supposed to work. I know what it is supposed to do, but I don’t see how it can do that. The lever is a bit bent but isn’t attached to anything. I’...

Re: Narrow Dodger

I pulled the trigger and ordered the Narrow dodger, (small dodger), from Bluewater Yachts. It arrived Saturday. The dodger itself is high-quality Sunbrella and the stitching and materials quality is excellent. The instructions were sparse, and we received no diagram or photo, so there was no clear i...

Nice job!
As you use the new mod, let us know how it works out..what you would change, if there is anything, and if you have to fold while docking, etc.

Yes, I see now that the original forum post is still available (although for some reason I couldn’t find it in a search), and that Kevin was the author! here: http://macgregorsailors.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=74566#74566) There is a bit of discussion there whether 5200 was the best choice so I hope ...

Re: Mac 26X front window leaking

Thanks! If my windows weren’t so crazed I would try that! I decided to bite the bullet and replace all the windows.
I ordered the complete set from BWY. After they are delovered, I’ll get a warm day and get the Admiral to help!
