Re: New Trailer at last

From the trailer spec sheet it weighs 660kg + 26X @ 1300kg (inc motor and fuel??) = 1960kg? so it should be just under 2000kg The original 26X steel trailer was only good for 1587kg/3500lbs US or maybe 1650kg GVM in Australia but weighed only 300kg ish So 300kg + 26X @ 1300kg (inc motor and fuel??)...

Re: New Trailer at last

Looking good Dennis. I didnt realize you can get a decent duel axel trailer for so little. One of my worries with putting an M on a duel axel is that I can't see it could be kept under 2 tons (actually, I cant keep it under that on the single axel aluminum trailer :? ) I know the X is a lighter boat...

Re: Any harm???

No harm in storing your boat mast up. Thousands of trailer sailers do it. As long as you are not driving too far on bumpy roads, you will be fine,,, and as long as you dont drive down the side of your house and let a shroud catch on the gutter like I did :( The mast made quite a noise as it buckled ...

Re: Valterra gate valve

Thanks Cpt Smitty Yep, mines the same, it came out easy, and I pried the base off with a couple of screw drivers, didn't take the gel coat off mine, but showed me a lovely bit of new boat underneath, kind of sad actually, seeing the state of the boat around it which has been baked in our Florida typ...

Valterra gate valve

My gate valve rod has failed. The one below looks like it would fit. Does anyone know if the bolt holes are likely to be spaced exactly the same as the 10 year old one from my boat? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VALTERRA-CP-1003VP-3-034-SEWER-SLIDE-VALVE-CARAVAN-RV-CAMPER-MOTOR-HOME-/272519351088? Can you still buy those wheel locks anywhere, as I do get sick of tripping over Mr Bungee.

Re: Which Chain?

I used a can of spraypaint to mark my anchor rode every 10 metres and just have a rough idea how much I'm putting out with that. You dont want to put too much out in a shallow anchorage thereby creating a huge swinging circle with changes of tide etc. Also, never just dump your anchor and chain and ...

Re: Which Chain?

Why chain? - the weight of the chain keeps the anchor set, it also cant be chafed away on rocks, coral etc. http://cruising.coastalboating.net/Seamanship/Anchoring/Rode/Anchor_Rode_files/image008.jpg A scope of 5 to 1 is fine for lunch and swim stops etc, but I always put out at least 7 to 1 on over...

Re: 1ea. start and house bat or 2 house batteries?

A few years back with my old batteries, I drained them flat and the motor wouldn't start. I thought I was going to have to learn how to pull start it and dug out the rope and wooden toggle (which came with my Etec). I then messed around for about 45 minutes trying to find how to do it in the manual ...

Re: 1ea. start and house bat or 2 house batteries?

I'v never had a start battery in the boat in the 7 years I'v had it. I have 2 x 105a/h duel purpose (start/house) batteries in parallel which fit perfectly in the M battery compartment. Very simple and easily handles all our power needs including running the fridge, the kids watching a movie or two ...

Re: Re-powering a MacM from 70 HP up

All year round sailing in Queensland, although for a couple months in summer it can be a bit hot sleeping in the boat.. Hottest summer on record this year... Yeah I'm a fan of Singapore too. Actually my last girlfriend (before meeting and marrying my wife 12 years back), was a Singaporean MTV model ...

Re: Still have your factory trailer? Take a good look at it!

Those with the non galv drawbars really need to take them out and inspect them every 3 or 4 years if you can see a lot of rust in there. My last one started to bend (was failing). I had the marina weld me up a new one about three years ago and asked for it to be hot dip galved but they reckoned they...
