We pulled our stock trailer from south central Nebraska to San Carlos this winter and had some trouble with tire wear on the inside of the tires which were not the stock tires as I have already changed them once. On the way back from Mexico I was doing the walk around check and noticed the right tir...

Sorry, can't make it this year since we went down this winter from mid December through mid January. It's beatiful country but I was really disappointed with the lack of wind. The 5 weeks we were there the wind only blew hard enough to really sail a couple of days. The group that stays there said it...

thanks & so long

Thanks to everyone for all the information that I'd learned while lurking on this board. Never posted to much since I'm still in the learning curve (but hopefully getting better). We're moving and may be a while before I am able to visit again. Maybe some day I will break down and get a digital came...

Texas Gulf Coast

We are thinking of heading to the Texas Gulf Coast this winter with our 26X but the charts I have show only a couple of openings in the barrier island to get to the Gulf. We hope to do some coastal sailing but want to be able to anchor in safe harbors. I'm concerned that there seems to be no anchora...

The same thing happened to me two years ago except I had only a jib and reefed main. The wind was actually only about 10 MPH at the time and we were heeling maybe 5 degrees. It had been about 15 to 20. I was trying to be extra careful as I had 4 other people on board that had never been on a sailboa...

arrestor

I am planning on using an arrestor that I read about on the net. It is basically welding cable looped around the base of the mast and dangling in the water on both sides. It does not ground the mast but gives the current an easier path to ground in case of a strike on the mast. The article didn't sp...

windlass

Has anyone installed an anchor windlass on a 26X, (if so make/model) or is it possible to use a sheet winch to help pull up the anchor up? If the wind is blowing very hard I have a hard time getting the anchor up when it is really dug in.

I took off the screwed down cover on the starboard side in the v-berth, drilled a hole into the storeage compartment, installed an eye bolt, and tied some line to the foreward starboard loop . The port foreward loop I tied around the vent well (2000 Mac 26X). The aft ones I haven't tied down yet. If...

Blue Water Yachts anchor roller

Can someone tell me which anchors can be pinned in the anchor roller from BWY. It's the one with the notch cut out for the forestay tang. I have a fluke that I use now and keep it on a pulpit holder, but would like a second anchor (claw type) that could be pinned to the roller.
Thanks in advance.
