New sails for my X
Hi Guys, Has been a long time since I posted - missed you fam! Well to refresh you memory, I asked you guys about a 1996 :macx: . It was about 10 years ago, maybe more, but I was offered it for $3000. I bought it and she sat. I am now at the place where I want to get her in basic shape to go sail th...

Re: San Francisco/Campbel area. Help to buy boat.
Kevin, I would offer to go take a look at it, but Steve is much closer. I'm about 2 hours away. I am on 20 acres, and could store the boat on the property for awhile until you could arrange a trip down, if the marina does not work out. Further, I bought a van at auction cheap, but it ended up having...

Re: Sea of Cortez
I'm in Northern CA, and have read accounts over the years about the Sea of Cortez, definitely on the list to do! I realize that it would be difficult to try and schedule a trip as a group, but what fun if we could pull it off. Safety in numbers, and just alot more fun. I watched a video, perhaps inc...

Re: New Craigslist Posting
Kevin, Where in Canada are you. Could be worth the drive. If it were me, I would look at it (or have me do it), talk with the guy 3 or 4 times over a week or two, maybe even 3, and then tell him that I couldn't make up my mind, drag it out - Long drive, not exactly what you're looking for, etc. . . ...

Re: Shipping a Mac to the med
Could be a trip of a lifetime. Some thoughts along those lines: Perhaps you could get away with shipping it one way and then selling it. If you don't want to sell your baby, then buy another, ship, use, and then sell. I'm sure that an :macm: or an :macx: would be movable. You could do what the big b...

Re: TRYING AGAIN - ETEC 90 QUESTION
Yes, I second the request for plans and detailed schematics for the floor/deck. Looks dam sweet. I know that it will probably take time to finalize the drawings for everybody, but I'm willing to wait!

Re: Changing the Black Strip to Blue or Green
This photo of another member's boat has been shown before, but since the thread is about re-painting the black stripe, it's pertinent. I would rather have this all-white scheme, with the windows showing against the hull. The boat looks more Euro-style, and would be easier for maintenance as well, w...

Re: Changing the Black Strip to Blue or Green
Highlander,
Thanks for the work. Pretty sweet! I wonder if a sticker to cover the black hull strip, would last long enough to make it worth while, then I could paint the deck.
Hard to decide between the yachty blue, and the yachty green.
Very Cool,

Changing the Black Strip to Blue or Green
Hi. I was thinking about full enclosures, sail covers, and the like, which started me thinking about colors. Would it be feasible to change the color of the accent strips to blue, or green, or whatever? Maybe a strip kit over the hull strip, and paint the black on the deck? Any thoughts, or has anyo...

Re: 97 26X for $3000 - To good to pass up???
Restless, Thanks for the link. I love the peach posterior, um...I mean interior. I will know that I have arrived at sailing nirvana, when I descend into my boat and find a "lovely apparition" such as that resting peacefully, beautifully. I will also do the fuel pump, sounds like a good ide...

Re: 97 26X for $3000 - To good to pass up???
Hi All, Well I finally got the boat home last night, :macx: . It was exciting to back her into the spot where she will sit, and I will be able to work on her. She feels like she is mine now. I was worried that someone would pinch me and when I got back to the marina, it would all have been a dream, ...

Sumner,
That looks fantastic! Is there any twist to it when pulling the anchor out of the bottom, or are the two fingers enough to keep it from twisting?
As soon as you can measure up an

Re: 97 26X for $3000 - To good to pass up???
Thanks guys for all the encouragment - I think the USCG classes could really be helpful especially for navigation. I vaguely remeber taking one with my father when is was 12 or 13. A good memory. I have sailed several times a year on SF Bay over the last 20 years or so, just chartering out of Modern...

I did try and look for the delete, but could not find it. I'm sure it was the excitment, and the slowness of this computer! lol!
