The way I see it....if someone wants into your boat they are going to get in there whether its locked or not. The Lock is more of a deterrent than a true security measure.

One thing my 97 :macx: can do in make a 13' long berth....yes I said 13'!!!! when tou conver the dinette into a berth it becomes a continuation of the right side v berth. Not sure how it compares to the 25, but the :macx: has a much larger cockpit than the :macm: . I think if you are looking for cockpit size as a main requirement then the :macx: is the way to go. However I have sailed with :macm: s and they are a little faster under sail. The aft berth on the :macx: ...

Gary, I think you would be happy in either boat, the :macx: or the :macm: . I think that maintenance will still be an issue with any boat. The way I look at it, you either spend the time maintaining or you spend the time fixing....either way brand new or used you will always have something to do on ...
