Re: Trailering the boat - need help

I'm relieved that I am not the only one that has this problem. At Davies in Long Beach the dock is prependicular to the ramp, something I should have mentioned earlier. There are several trailer upgrades that are worth looking into that would help. Many of you referenced trailering with an empty bal...

Re: Docking for a Beginner please help

I pull up to the dock to have lunch in Los Alamitos Bay (not into a slip). I found if I nose up to the dock at a 45 degree angle, cut the throttle and let the momentum of the boat glide up slowly, and then turn the wheel toward the dock and lightly hit reverse, I swing right on up against the dock. ...

Re: Trailering the boat - need help

Divecos:
Interesting approach. I'll check next time we go out for anything that may himder us walking the boat up onto the trailer. FYI: I launch out of Davies in Long Beach.

Trailering the boat - need help

Ok, I've been at this for a year and a half. I keep the boat on the trailer and therefore need to put into the water (easy) and take out of the water (hard). The problem I have is with the dagger board and rudder up; I don't have as much control of the boat. Throw in current and slow speeds; lining ...

Re: Anchor Light Switching

I chose not to add another switch to reverse the polarity of the wiring to the mast but instead wired in a DPDT relay
Elegant solution, bravo!

Re: Anchor light alternative?

Elimenating the ex wife seems reasonable...but I too used a nylon fish tape and pulled the wire up from the bottom of the mast. I changed out the two pin plug with a four pin and added a DPDT lighted switch to keep the steaming light separate from the anchor light.. I did it this way so I could save...

Use the auto release cams for your rudders, last 3 years saved rudders . Great idea! Thanks Dave. Might want to start here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4502 and give Leon and Joel a call. After his expeience here, Joel may not want to participate. I just read through all of this thread and the correspo...

Rudder Craft (IDA Rudders)

Ahoy! I'd like to start by saying that the folks at Rudder Craft are super! I placed my order on Friday 6/29 and the rudders for my M were out of stock. I had on the water overnight plans for 7/4, 7/5, and 7/6 (the admiral's birthday). This was to be our first overnight outing on the water and I end...

Re: Lifeline PELICAN HOOK pin gone wild

On the F-16 ground safety pins, we brazed all the rings shut to prevent loose metal from being ingested into the engine.

Re: boat capsized - 3 children dead

Wow. Somewhere around the first of July we had a discussion here on this board about overloading the MAC. Some where talking about going out with 10-12 souls on board in various combinations of adults and children. I personally have drawn the limit of souls I will take out on the MAC; four adults an...

Good idea. I'm going to keep this snippet for when I need to change my rigging.

Re: Sleazy ad challenge

All good points (I wouldn't tow this boat on that trailer!) My guess at what's wrong with the ad is... My first thought was that the forestay wasn't attached to the boat but somewhere off the picture however... mast is a power line pole. So I thought about it and came up with the following: The ad s...

Re: Capacity Placard

I agree with Freedom, it's most likely a liability issue disclaimer. Roger designed the boat and this is what he has decided is safe; I assume there's some cussion but probably not much. Use your best judgement. I would like to carry 4 adults and 3-4 kids With as many as you want to take out on your...
