Re: '82 Mac25 fiberglass crackling sounds...
On mine there is a crunching, rubbing sound when I move around the cockpit. If you look under the cockpit floor the rear liner bulkhead is right there. When you stand on the cockpit floor it flexes a bit and touches the bulkhead. As it is not very strong or attached to the floor the two meet. When t...

Re: Cowling rain baffle on tohatsu 9.8
So an update is in order. I called Tohatsu in TX. They told me that they can't sell that part by itself as it is not broken out of the cowling part separately. After a while of discussing options, he told me that from time to time they get motors back that have been damaged broken, etc... and that t...

Thanks for the pics. It's very clear. I'll see what I can do to make it functional again.
Have a good one.

Cowling rain baffle on tohatsu 9.8
Hi all. I had a great sailing summer getting to know my Mac 25 which was brought back in no small part due to the wealth of knowledge and help here. So the rains are starting to show up. I am getting ready to pull the boat out this weekend, and was noticing that the cowl/cover on my 9.8 has no baffl...

Re: Motor for Mac 25
For the record... my tohatsu 9.8 has been awesome. I have about 10+ hours on it now, so it is just broken in. Starts easily and I think it is getting quieter as it breaks in. I made the mistake of putting about 2 gallons in me 3 gallon tank when I first got it in the water. The needle did not budge ...

Re: New Mac25 owner, new to sailing.. introducing myself.
Congrats on the boat. I just got my Mac 25 in the water a couple of weeks ago after spending 3 mo basically re-doing everything. It is solid now and is a blast to sail. Where are you located. I'm just above Santa Barbara. (you said DOWN in Long Beach, so you might be up my way.) I got a tohatsu 9.8 ...

Re: Mac 25 mainsail repair
Of course you may also be talking about the leech cord that is actually inside the aft end of the mainsail. I'm not sure how you'd fix that one.
Enjoy

Re: Mac 25 mainsail repair
That's your topping lift. Your boat may not have come with one. Mine did not. I drilled a hole through the rear of the masthead. (the bracket on top of the mast that connects to your backstay) I then mounted a swivel block to that hole and ran a line from the base of the mast up through that block a...

Re: MAC 25 leak
Have you checked you keel pivot bolt and seals? That would be the first thing to check. Not sure how often the keel trunk itself would leak. It seems like it would take an awefully bad impact to make that happen.
Also check to see if there is any water coming in around the keel lock bolt.

Re: First sail with my M25!! Success!
Yeah I plan on getting out there someday for sure. I want to be very familiar with the boat before I do that one. I'll sail mainly in the SB channel and at Lake Cachuma. It is a very nice lake that gets westerly winds every afternoon. It's a large lake and there are already several sailboats on it. ...

First sail with my M25!! Success!
So after working on her for 2.5 months, I got everything ready. Still needs some cosmetic stuff and a bit of interior work but, that is next. We sailed off of the Santa Barbara coast yesterday. Not a whole lot of wind, but there were a couple of puffs. Everything worked well and we had a great time....

Re: Stuck Keel Pivot Bolt Mac 25
The head of the bolt is about .5 inch away from the fiberglass liner. The threaded end of the bolt is inside the setee hatch contacting the fiberglass keel locker that holds the bolt in place. I thought about a torch, but then had visions of the boat going up in flames. That would be a worse scenari...
