Re: Liveaboard Cruising Mods Mac/Venture 25
Hi Scienclooker, I have a 26S and have been considering putting a 5k AC unit in a hole in the bulkhead between the aft berth and the laz. There is enough room in the laz for the unit (barely) and I figured it would work as long as the laz hatch was kept open. Having done something similar, do you ha...

Re: Time to replace standing rigging?
I'm late to the party on this post, but for the benefit of any lurkers who might be seeking info re: standing rigging in the future, I replaced mine myself this last year (which I assume was original) on my 1990 26S. There was some rust and fraying visible. Total cost of materials was about $200 plu...

Cutting a hole in bulkhead between laz and aft berth on an S
This is in relation to my earlier post re: AC, but I'm wondering if anyone has done this for any reason? Did you learn anything? I know there are actually two walls to go through - the laz bulkhead and the interior liner. I assume they are pressed against ea. other in this area. Is that correct? Als...

Photo documentation of mods on 26S "Goldilocks"
I've done quite a few mods on my boat. Some I have copied from others. I have recently done a lot of woodwork that was inspired by others, but I did my own take on things. I've kept a Facebook photo album as documentation. For the woodwork, you'll have to scroll way down. It has been made "Publ...

Air conditioner in the laz
I have a '90 26S, "Goldilocks." I've searched for the following and could find no discussion of it. If it exists, please excuse, but has anyone tried putting a little 5k btu window AC unit in the laz of a 26S or D by way of cutting an opening in the bulkhead between the laz and the aft ber...

Re: 26S bilge question
Thanks Grady and Sum. I was thinking about making a hole in the bottom of the bulkhead with a small hole saw and then keeping it plugged unless there was water to get rid of. But then there may already be a hole somewhere that I just haven't been able to find yet.

26S bilge question
Hi all. I have been searching but not finding an answer so I'm going to go ahead and post a question. My fairly new to me 26S came with a bilge pump in the bottom of the laz. I was under the impression that the laz was open to the rest of the bilge under the cabin. Upon crawling around in there the ...

Re: She's all mine!
Congrats! I am on a parallel path having also purchased a 1990 26S a couple of months ago. I've had mine out about a half dozen times already and love it! I had never been on board one in the water before buying mine and was ready to accept pretty much any caveat in order to gain the trailering bene...

Re: Motor steering 26D
I have seen that some have added a mount or plate of some kind to move the motor further aft thus giving it more room to pivot. My 9.9 Merc 2-stroke is mounted directly in the stock position and I can get about 45 degrees either way. It's enough for where I have had to go so far, but it would be nic...

Photo album of my "new" 26S
Hello friends,
I have started a photo album on Facebook of my recently purchased 26S. I'll be adding to it with general photos and mod projects I am planning.
Enjoy!

Re: Questions on fixing my Mac
Epoxy is the material of choice to repair polyester resin fiberglass, not polyester resin, which is counter-intuitive, but it's the way it is. Epoxy bonds much better to old polyester resin glass than does fresh polyester resin. I recommend you spend some time with the many materials, many free, ava...

Re: solar panel bracket and prop guard
I just measured what I'd need, which turned out to be about 6" by 4 1/2" with a little taper at the front just to make it look spiffy. I cut it on a little job-site table saw. It cuts just like soft wood without melting. (Makes "sawdust" that would make for perfect artificial sno...

solar panel bracket and prop guard
I did a couple of mods to my 26S over the weekend. The previous owner had the solar panel velcroed to the lazarette hatch. It was problematic for several reasons. I made up a bracket to mount it on the stern rail. The actual rail clamps are Salty Dog units that came as a pair for $10.95 from our loc...

Ha Ha! Yes indeed! The trailer seems to want to suck all the work out of one that it can! As Neil Young said so well, "Rust never sleeps!"
